Pale Waves 'Jealousy' by Vasilisa Forbes
Rob Ulitski - 30th June 2022
Vasilisa Forbes follows up her video for Pale Waves' Lies with a starkly monochromic performance piece for Jealousy.
The high-contrast cinematography is inspired by the work of taboo-busting Irish photographer Bob Carlos Clarke, and gives the promo an editorial-meets-punk aesthetic.
The minimalist art direction and expansive white cyc backdrops create a glossy, luxurious feel, which is perfectly balanced by the rougher textures and frenetic camerawork.Â
"I wanted to take Pale Waves into a punk and minimal world," says Forbes. "Chains represent suppression and being held back by jealous thoughts and emotions - caging, carrying a weight, oppression and breaking bonds."
