Renata Flores 'Pachamama' by David Carrizales
Rob Ulitski - 23rd June 2022
David Carrizales directs a stirring promo for Renata Flores.
Pachamama is the most sacred deity of the Incas. Mother of hills and men, ruler of harvests and earthquakes, nurturer of life. In her new music video, Renata Flores embodies Pachamama to warn us about the damage beyond repair that humans are inflicting on the planet each day.
Shot in Lima, Perú, the video takes viewers to La Chira beach, the pulsing streets of Callao, the crowded grocery market of Trujillo and a Santería (a religious shop), where the artist cries and dances hypnotically as a form of protest - as an undeniable way to make us stop looking the other way and start facing the music.
Carrizales experiments with rich colour palettes and juxtaposition to craft a world of extremes: beauty and strength, aesthetics and energy, nature and concrete.
