Sad Night Dynamite 'Krunk' by Greg Hackett
Rob Ulitski - 29th Mar 2021
Greg Hackett directs a neon-lit, conceptual fantasy for Sad Night Dynamite.
The video opens with the duo traversing the city in a white limo - a repeating metaphor from previous visuals - as a night of fun soon spirals out of control, leading them to an unplanned destination.
Adric Watson's cinematography combines artificial lighting with unfamiliar angles and composition, creating an elevated yet garish aesthetic. And that is perfectly suited to the abstract concept.
GREG HACKETT:
It's about the pleasures of getting lost... and the nightmarish world you dream of getting lost from.
"Krunk is a cinematic revenge-fantasy and a parody of the male ego. Equal parts light and shade, dystopia and fantasy.
"It’s a project as much about the pleasures of getting lost, as it is about the at-times nightmarish world you dream of getting lost from.
"It’s the latest journey for their signature white limo, a reoccurring visual motive from their self-titled debut mixtape."
