Bugzy Malone ft Emeli Sandé 'Welcome To The Hood' by KC Locke
Rob Ulitski - 25th Mar 2021
KC Locke directs a very personal take on his and Bugzy Malone's hometown, in the affecting promo for Welcome To The Hood, featuring Emeli Sandé.
Exploring the lives of a multitude of characters in the city, the film interweaves vignettes which focus on the struggles and realities of everyday life - including drugs, politics, police, family breakdown and the North-South divide.
Completely engrossing and emotional, the documentary-style cinematography and clever storytelling come together to form a true piece of art. It's a must-watch.
KC LOCKE:
Shooting this video in Manchester in such a raw way is something very close to me.
"This video is a behind closed doors look into Lockdown and some of the experiences felt by the people in Manchester.
"I had to draw on my own personal stories, friends, family and people in my circle - the last 12 months have been life-changing for many of us and is something that will never be forgotten.
"Experiencing, seeing and hearing a multitude of struggles during the past year of lockdown, and being from South Manchester, it’s hard to avoid the reality of what has been happening to us.
