Middle Kids 'R U 4 ME?' by W.A.M. Bleakley

Rob Ulitski - 21st Oct 2020

A young boy escapes a brutal reform school and discovers a new skill, in W.A.M Bleakley's poignant promo for Australian band Middle Kids.

The video for R U 4ME? centres around a youth training establishment, where a strict leader keeps a watchful eye on a group of kids, bending and moulding them into a military archetype.

Unfolding in a cinematic way, the narrative takes a hard turn at the climax, offering a heartfelt resolution and moment of feelgood fun.

Bill Bleakley and DoP Gregoire Liere balance authenticity with stylisation, combining a mix of dramatic camera moves and documentary-style stillness, perfectly encapsulating the mood and tone of the project.
