Yellow Days ft Mac Demarco 'The Curse' by Charlie Robins
Charlie Robins directs a distorted performance video for Yellow Days, featuring Mac Demarco.
Shot against a green-screen with tracking markers prominently on display, the visual for The Curse starts as straight performance, before Yellow Days - aka George van den Broek - glitches into a virtual avatar, cloning and multiplying against the increasingly warped backdrop.
Cascading into weirder aesthetics, the environment becomes a pre-vis playground, scrambling through dozens of locations and forms. And there's a cameo from Mac Demarco - his 3D avatar, that is - during his guitar instrumental break.
Quirky and offbeat, the video is an excellent accompaniment to the lilting track, and a testament to the slew of ways the human likeness can be manipulated through technology.
