Ami Saraiya ponders the surreality of our current cultural climate in this animated video by Gretchen Hasse.

Through a mix of animation styles and live action, the visual follows the earnest themes of Saraiya's song We Are Fighting You Now. The sprawling narrative - punctuated by the threat of a faceless, insatiable beast who is always pursuing the characters - is a clever metaphor that one must keep loving and keep fighting to stand any chance of survival.

The animation switches between rudimentary line drawings and detailed characters and props. The use of live-action footage adds a layer of real-world iconography, helping to anchor the themes in reality and truth.
