Ama Lou 'We Tried, We Tried' by Ama Lou
Raised in London, now resident in Los Angeles, singer-songwriter Ama Lou continues to impress with her directing as well as her musical output with her latest video: the comic tale of a long-married husband and wife, struggling to keep the spark going between them. And they are both played by Ama Lou.
The song We tried, We Tried is about the breakdown of a relationship, and the video follows the couple over the course of one busy evening - the action on screen directly emulating the lyrics. The comedy is fairly broad yet Ama's portrayal of the two characters - aided with some excellent prosthetic make-up - make them believable creations: the still-glamourous Wife is much keener to have some fun and excitment than her Husband, and that rings true.
This is basically Eddie Murphy territory, and Ama Lou pulls it off.
