Foals 'Exits' by Albert Moya
Albert Moya draws us into a hugely ambitious, enigmatic, surreal and gripping narrative to accompany Exits, the first song released from Foals' hugely anticipated two-album project Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost.
Like disparate scenes from a movie, we enter the threatening world of a teenage girl and boy, characterised by authoritarian cruelty and stunning set-pieces. Moya's vision - shot in spectaular locations in Spain and Hungary - was to "build a dystopian and beautiful world with very powerful interpretations - surreal and intriguing, yet entertaining for the audience.”
The unsettling drama of the video reflects the intensity of Exits, which Foals’s frontman Yannis Philippakis says is a response to current events. "Lyrically, there are resonances with what's going on in the world at the moment,” Philippakis has said. “I just feel like, what’s the utility of being a musician these days, if you can’t engage with at least some of this stuff? These songs are white flags, or they’re SOSs, or they’re cries for help... each in a different way.”
