Dizzee Rascal x Skepta 'Money Right' by Romain Chassaing
Promonews - 19th Oct 2018
Romain Chassaing, nominated at this year's UKMVAs for his video for Dizzee Rascal video 'Bop n keep it Dippin', now reunites with Dizzee to create something anarchic, fun and hugely cinematic for Dizzee's collab with Skepta on Money Right.
It’s London 2018 - and its turning into the Wild West. The city is fighting to hang on to its very soul, as a crime epidemic sweeps the streets. Drug dealers are dying, murdered in cold blood and their weed stolen. It’s lawless and uncontrollable and just as Gotham needed Batman, London looks for a hero…
Out of the darkness emerges Dizzee. He's a rogue investigator, there to right the wrongs. Or so it seems. he's not exactly playing by the book...
Shot in and around London for three days in September 2018, Romain Chassaing's video repeats the high octane storytelling of Bop N Keep It Dippin', putting an English slant on his talent for comedy drama. It's stylish, cinematic – and Dizzee (and Skepta) comes out on top in this one...
Romain Chassaing is now being represented in the UK by Carrie Sutton and Lock It In, for music video, together with his fellow directors at Solab in Paris, Romain Laurent and Marius Gonzalez.
ROMAIN CHASSAING:
"This is my second collaboration with Dizzee and again it was a pleasure to work with him.
In the last video for Bop n Keep it Dippin, I experimented with some narrative scenes for Dizzee, which he handled very well and enjoyed too. I couldn't have cast a better actor to play this character and Dizzee mastered it with ease. What a joy to work with a talented artist with the natural skills of an actor and comedian.
"To have this talent available to me, meant I could explore a more complicated narrative and it has been another great experience for me. For this new clip it was great fun to develop a very referenced film universe with him. So for our second collaboration, I was able to write Dizzee a more important role, which required him to carry the film, as an actor, for three long days, appearing in almost every scene. He was focused and present throughout, even to the final scene to be shot at night with heavy rain effects.
"I remember when we called wrap, he was not exhausted and with his umbrella in hand, he bid us goodnight with a dance in the rain puddles, holding his hat like Gene Kelly. What a star."
