The video for MJ Cole & Kojey Radical's Soak It Up, directed by Filmawi, is based on the idea of something supernatural happening in the context of a tragic occurance in everyday life, and turning it into something soulful and beautiful.
Kojey Radical finds himself in the middle of a family mourning the loss of a son, who then appears lying on the floor of the sitting room among the mourners. Filmawi's use of 16mm film and natural light (beautifully shot by Joel Honeywell) adds to a striking sense of intimacy and palpable emotion. Its simple yet sophisticated and very powerful.
