Powell 'Wormhole' by The Sacred Egg
David Knight - 6th Nov 2017
Have you ever wondered what would happen if a hen party to Blackpool (or another English seaside town) was given a 1940s animation makeover? No, neither have I. But The Sacred Egg have done it anyway, for Powell's Wormhole, and proved it's a marvellously way to celebrate a quaintly British night out.Â
However, people of other lands may find this just too disturbing. Americans, in particular, you should look away now...
THE SACRED EGG:
“So it started with an idea that involved colour consumption and animation. When we framed it with the world of boozy hen do culture and late night kebab shops the idea seem to work perfectly. Particularly with the soundtrack of 'Wormhole' with its acidic beats over the top.
"Photography projects like 'Cardiff After Dark' by Maciej Dakowicz and 'Stags, Hens and Bunnies' by Dougie Wallace helped influence the choice of world we set the video in. We followed different groups of hen parties across UK towns over multiple weekends. The video was always meant to be a bit of fun and a bit of an excuse for a night out. Thanks to Alden who spent many sleepless nights working on the animation.’'
