Declan McKenna 'Why Do You Feel So Down?' by Phil Poole
Phil Poole's video for Declan McKenna is in the grand tradition of exercise video-themed music vids, but inspired by the gentler and cosier British breakfast TV strain than the Jane Fonda workout variety. So in fact, this is actually a music video you could really use as an exercise video.
So get up, make room, and get moving - the DMTV Today way...
PHIL POOLE:
"Our intentions for Why Do You Feel So Down were to reflect the sunny demeanour of the song while capturing the subtle undertones of cynicism, as reflected in the wonderfully contrasting lyrics from Declan. There seemed no better example of this than the early morning exercise routines seen on breakfast television, with the forced smiles and fake enthusiasm a perfect blend with the energy of a choreographed workout.
"And after a long of day of patience and repetition for Declan and his group, not to mention numerous stray dogs and inquisitive tourists; Greenwich Park experienced a routine that Mr Motivator himself would be proud of."
