Joris Delacroix ft Ornette 'Start The Engine' by Santiago & Mauricio
David Knight - 20th June 2017
A sensitive individual (played by Leah James) finds a safe way to confront a bullying tormentor by taking on his avatar in a beat-'em-up arcade game.
It's an absorbing vignette of individual defiance by Mexican directing duo Santiago & Mauricio for French producer Joris Delacroix's Start The Engine, and it also defies expectations.
The hypnotic effect of the heroine's gameplaying on her fellow arcade inhabitants then extends to all the characters, and finally, it transcends the storyline itself. Everything simply succumbs to the irresistable ignition-firing groove of the track. Damn good video.
