Rejjie Snow 'Blakkst Skn' by Ian Pons Jewell
Cat Velez - 9th Dec 2015
Ian Pons Jewell has outdone himself in his video for Irish rapper Rejjie Snow's Blakkst Skn, with a unique and captivating commentary on race set against a story of forbidden love.
Like his video for NAO released a few weeks ago, Blakkst Skn is uncanny and more than slightly off-kilter scene which melds with the song lyrics and commands the viewer's interpretation. The video sees the rapper living in a sewer, accompanied by a homeless man and looked down at through a drainage opening by a red-haired woman who is at street level.
Then, we're jolted by a thought-provoking sequence, revealing that the woman is anything but ordinary, as she turns Rejjie into a extraordinary, gold-skinned man.
