Olly Murs 'Beautiful To Me' by Martyn Thomas
Olly Murs' new single brings with it this heartwarming tale of love between old friends, courtesy of director Martyn Thomas.
Starring Game Of Thrones actress Charlotte Hope, the video charts the friendship of two touchingly relatable characters from their school days to adulthood. As their affection grows and matures, the viewer is teased with a familiar but effective combination of unspoken feelings, longing looks and missed opportunities.
And as with all great romcoms, the climactic ending provides an emotional twist that does not disappoint.
"Olly's love for the film Boyhood was the spark that lit the fire for this brief, something nostalgic that spanned time and had a central character(s) that we could fall in love with. The story is based on a lot of my own personal experiences: getting in trouble for having a fountain pen fight, getting busted smoking at school, repeatedly being there for a girl and never having the guts to step it up...
"The aim was to make this feel as real as possible, less pop promo and more indy short film. It felt like this story would be close to home for a lot of people in some way so I wanted to deliver a very believable film with honest performances.
"Charlotte Hope and Sam O'Rourke were absolutely amazing to work with, they really understood my vision and fully immersed themselves in the characters and their ongoing relationship. They built up a rapport extremely fast and watching them change through the ages in appearance and performance was really fun and exciting.
"Sam was actually heading out on the town with friends right after we wrapped, looking about 15, sporting his cleanly shaven face and 90s bowl cut... sorry mate."
