There's definitely something of the classic Hollywood musical in Marc Oller's marvellous video for Verkeren's Laberinto. The talented new signing to CANADA sets things up with a compelling premise, when the when the goofy yet cool guy approaches the beautiful yet studious girl in the school library.

So just how does the guy make the girl in the library who is not only beautiful, but very studious, kiss him in three minutes? You know you're going to enjoy finding out.

But of course, its never really in doubt. It's a beautifully art directed and choreographed trip from normal Spanish student life to fantasyland - another marvellous CANADA production, and Marc Oller provides direction with considerable warmth and grace. Not surprisingly he was feted at Cannes Lions in the summer, when this was first shown.
