Russ Chimes ‘Turn Me Out’ by Mathy & Fran
Promonews - 23rd Apr 2013
Mathy & Fran have applied an indie aesthetic to the proper housey dance of Russ Chimes’ Turn Me Out – and the result is a bit of a triumph.
The pastel shades and portraiture of young hipsters turns out to be the starting point for all kinds of quirkiness – and in particular lots of ‘involuntary’ dancing, choreographed by Holly Blakey. The result is an artfully simple, and a thoroughly uplifting video.
“We were keen to create something that communicated the hypnotic rhythm of the track and found an instant connection to the ‘make me scream, make me shout’ lyric,” explain Mathy & Fran. “Russ was looking for something dance-orientated and the theme of hypnosis seemed to lend itself naturally to dance, but also allowed us to develop it into something more unexpected and abstract – with the characters unaware of their actions and losing their inhibitions.”
