Suede have launched their latest album Autofiction with a short film to feature two of its singles - She Still Leads Me On&nbsp;and 15 Again - written and directed by Katie Lambert.The film is the story of a couple, Hannah and Chris. Hannah is ready to settle down and start a family; Chris far more inclined to retain their independence. Can they reconcile these conflicting impulses?Lambert's short film directing debut is impressive, with engaging performances by&nbsp;by Hannah Higton and Noah Granville, with outstanding cinematography by Adam Barnett.&nbsp;&nbsp;"It's about that moment in a relationship when it’s crunch time," says Lambert. "The moment when you’re at a certain age and forever feels incredibly close. When you’re not sure if you’re with the one, or if you could find another one, or if that’s a crap societal construction anyway."

Samuel Bradley directs a enigmatic promo for The 1975, with creative direction by Patricia Villirillo, taking inspiration from cinema's greats - from Ingmar Bergman to Anton Corbijn.The first release from new album&nbsp;Being Funny In A Foreign Language, the video presents an ambiguous black and white concept,&nbsp;with giant balloons, teenage violinists and a whole host of eccentric characters.&nbsp;Shot on film, the abstract vignettes feel vintage and experimental, and the cinematography acts as the glue that binds the divergent ideas together.&nbsp;The beauty of videos like this is the search for meaning and understanding, and the different interpretations each viewer will make, but one thing's for sure - it's great to have the group back.&nbsp;

Director Charles Gall unleashes a little bit of madness for Sports Team's latest promo, where lead singer Alex Rice becomes the hapless contestant in a sadistic game show.&nbsp;Welcome to 'The Game',&nbsp;where life's hard but you can't complain...We see Alex sitting at home, flicking through TV when he comes across a surreal gameshow, and signs up to land a guest spot. Before long, he is shaking hands with the eccentric presenter - played by veteran singer-songwriter John Otway - and enters into an increasingly unappealing set of tasks.Meanwhile, the rest of the band are among the audience, all too willing to subject Alex to demeaning and painful 'games' -&nbsp;including a real-life version of the board game Operation, and a ruck with the entire group dressed as animals, and finally ending up as an angel harrassed by a mob of devils.It's a vibe that perfectly suits the London-based indie-rock group, and Rice manages to amp up the charm even when getting stomped on by giant animal feet...&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Alexander Brown directs a brilliantly ferocious performance promo for Bloc Party's return to action with Traps.&nbsp;Playing their comeback single, frontman&nbsp;Dele Okereke and his bandmates are effectively trapped themselves, within a seething&nbsp;mass of enthusiastic fans.&nbsp;This is presented in a disorientating fashion, mostly in extreme close-up - this was shot by DoP Pieter Snyman on a probe lens -&nbsp;intercut with the frenetic motion of the crowd, forcing their way ever closer to the group, and at one point dragging a bandmember from a car.&nbsp;The blood-red lighting&nbsp;and indistinct shots of the people surrounding them (they are wearing masks throughout) creates a breathless atmosphere, which matches Bloc Party's unconstrained energy. Overall, it's a brilliantly kinetic and stylish piece of work by Alexander Brown, making one of his irregular returns himself to music videos.[imgtoken data:1]<blockquote>There’s something intrinsically cathartic but also unsettling about being in a crowd.</blockquote>"The basic idea for me, was to make a video which felt like you are in the middle of a mosh pit," says Brown.&nbsp;"After being conditioned by lockdown, there’s something intrinsically cathartic but also slightly unsettling about being in a crowd."I was immediately drawn into the sardonic character Kele created in the lyrics, which is all a bit wild and unhinged and lurid. I wanted to capture that feeling of being in a crowd or a club and not being entirely comfortable with the intimacy. It’s a performance video in all it's&nbsp;glory. I wanted it all to be shot in an unhinged way, as if the band are playing from within the crowd, removing the stage/crowd divide."The camera swings and turns like a headless chicken - and everywhere it turns we unravel a new moment. It feels chaotic but within the chaos we have disorientating, dizzying transitions, and carefully orchestrated setups with surprises and twists and turns along the way. The song is called Traps. So it seemed interesting to have the band feel like they were trapped in this mob and we can’t quite tell if its amazing, or uncomfortable.[imgtoken data:2]<blockquote>I wanted to give the video a touch of&nbsp;The Evil Dead.</blockquote>"It was a conscious decision to give everyone masks. Aside from the safety aspect, I wanted the crowd to be anonymous and menacing - we don’t see anyone’s faces, only their legs, or chest. I want it to feel like a jungle of limbs. They are all wearing dark clothes so there is a homogenous feel to them, threatening."We shot this with a probe lens so we could go right up to the band, and do all sorts of amazing movements. Big thanks to Piet [Snyman] for waving around a metre-long camera completely handheld! We shot this on a Red Komodo, which I think makes it the longest lens, with one of the smallest cameras."Brown adds that the moment when the bandmember is dragged from the on-set car was another touch of madness that the song required.&nbsp;"I wanted to give the video a touch of The Evil Dead, and having the crowd pressed up to the glass, pulling Russel out of the door at the end just seemed to do that. We weren’t sure if we were going to get that on the day as it was the last shot, with twenty&nbsp;minutes to spare we just managed to squeeze it in. It was handy having an incredibly long lens as it means we could poke it right through a car window. "I want to give a big shout out to all the people who came down on the day, the energy we got from the crowd was fantastic!"

Samuel Douek directs an empowering promo for Little Mix's Love (Sweet Love).This is Douek and the&nbsp;group’s third collaboration, celebrating ten&nbsp;years of Little Mix, and is the title track from their&nbsp;forthcoming album.The concept was inspired by the Pre-Raphaelite art movement and the lesser known Sisterhood that romanticised nature and emboldened women through painting.“I wanted to celebrate Little Mix as the regal queens they are; unimpressed by a cohort of Knights that vie for their attention,” explains Douek.&nbsp;The opulent promo is shot in a spectacular orangery-style space, adorned with a mesmerising selection of plants, whilst the styling and makeup create a fantasy world that really bring the track to life.&nbsp;This is one of the first films to come out of CAMP Productions, recently founded by Douek and executive producer Francesca Woods.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Thomas James directs a dark and twisted tale of a serial killer cab driver, in his promo for Lucy Blue’s Taxi Driver.&nbsp;Oozing a sense of nostalgia in the styling and look across the anachronistic set pieces - with definite&nbsp;nods to Scorsese's masterpiece of the same name -&nbsp;the visual doesn't cross the line into true horror, yet manages to create an uncomfortable, overarching sense of dread in every frame.&nbsp;Thomas James brings his customary verve&nbsp;to this story of a disturbed young woman - and Lucy Blue is brilliant in her&nbsp;role as a stalker, and the blurred boundary between infatuation and insanity is masterfully conceptualised.

British singer and producer&nbsp;Wesley Joseph self-directs the mesmerising video for his track Patience, with featured artist Jorja Smith as his co-star - in his first outing since signing to the directing roster at Stink Rising.As with his excellent self-directed videos for&nbsp;<a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2021/03/24/wesley-joseph-thrilla-wesley-joseph/70135" target="_blank">Thrilla</a> and <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2021/05/21/wesley-joseph-ultramarine-wesley-joseph/71001" target="_blank">Ultramarine</a>,&nbsp;Joseph creates a visually striking world with a dreamlike quality, comprising of&nbsp;apparently disconnected&nbsp;scenes - teenagers united in grief, two young boys happy on their bikes, an outburst of violence, and so on - which gain meaning when taken as a whole.&nbsp;Wesley and Jorja witness these hyperreal, humanist&nbsp;scenes as they drive&nbsp;through their hometown in a white vintage Mercedes. And while distracted by the visions they see, they are involved in a&nbsp;head-on collision.[imgtoken data:1]In the aftermath of the wreck, both artists perform in the carnage of the accident, and then into a metaphorical 'heaven-like' space. The dramatic subnarratives that they saw earlier outside the car come to an emotive conclusion at the end.Joseph performs from within an expanse of flowers as if he is visiting his own graveside, while Jorja Smith arrives as a presence in the video as the mortally injured victim, hurled away from the flaming car.[imgtoken data:2]The video,&nbsp;shot over two days in&nbsp;Surrey, is redolent of Kendrick Lamar's videos, particularly the video for Element, and the work of David Lynch. It's&nbsp;the latest and most substantial work yet from the Birmingham-born musician, producer and filmmaker, who originally came to London&nbsp;in 2016 to study film, and then began making music, and is now proving to be successful in both fields.Joseph now joins the Stink Rising roster, and will be globally represented by the new talent division of Stink Films, the production company with offices around the world.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:3]“I’m really excited to be joining forces with the visionaries at Stink Films," he says. Wesley Joseph invites us to explore feelings of incapability and infatuation in the self-directed video for Ultramarine.It’s a full blood moon, and Federick (Wesley’s alter ego, a self-confessed insomniac) is&nbsp;late to a wedding party, soon finding himself staring down the barrel of a golden baby magnum.With a focus on chasing what could harm him the most, we are presented with an evening of trippy eccentricity, fear and funk.Embracing a hypnotic red and blue colour palette and an electrifying sense of danger in every frame, the visual uses distorted POV shots and effects to create a darkly&nbsp;atmospheric aesthetic.&nbsp;The concept is a whirlwind of emotion and metaphor, and the cinematic qualities are notably enhanced by DoP&nbsp;Alfred Thirolle's masterful use of saturated colour and experimental camerawork.&nbsp;
