Dave Free and&nbsp;Kendrick Lamar direct a poignant performance promo for Count Me Out.&nbsp;We meet&nbsp;Kendrick by his piano, deep in thought until he is interrupted by his therapist - played by the inimitable Helen Mirren - who encourages him to continue his session.&nbsp;The video then splits off into a series of abstract vignettes, which each artistically interpret the lyrics into something photographic and emotionally stirring.&nbsp;The composition is also inspired, placing intimate shots of Mirren and Lamar on opposing sides of the frame, in the manner of a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triptych" target="_blank">triptych in medieval art</a>,&nbsp;allowing viewers to take in the emotions from both sides, whilst experiencing the vignettes in the middle.Brilliant work, with a moving message.&nbsp;

It's been a long time coming, but it's been worth the wait. The first proper music video by Kendrick Lamar in ages comes with the burden of following the greatness that has preceded it. But this one... it's that rare moment when you sense something very special has happened. A culturally significant, transcendent work of visual Art.Yes, music videos can be Art. Easy to forget. Yet with The Heart Part 5, Kendrick Lamar and&nbsp;Dave Free - the old Little Homies team, now openly credited - have shown that there is the potential to harness the medium to elevate the message onto a new level. That should be incredibly inspiring - to musicians, filmmakers, and simply everyone who watches it.&nbsp;They have done so by using cutting edge VFX - the use of deepfake&nbsp;technology,&nbsp;created by Deep Voodoo, is fantastic. Kendrick transforms into a series of famous Black men - starting with&nbsp;OJ Simpson, moving on to&nbsp;Kanye, Nipsey Hustle, Kobe Bryant, Colin Kaepernick, Will Smith - visual portrayals that, in the case of Nipsey Hustle,&nbsp;are reflected in his words.We have seen some very good deepfakery&nbsp;before, mitigating against the absolute originality of the concept (and accusations of plagiarism have already started). But ultimately, it's all about the simplicity, the aesthetics, the timing, and above all, the spellbinding performance. Kendrick is so great in this. The occasionally imperfect lipsync makes it even better. And for good measure, he's rapping over&nbsp;Marvin Gaye's I Want You. Selena Gomez makes herself at home in a magical house, in the gorgeous&nbsp;video for De Una Vez,&nbsp;directed by&nbsp;Tania Verduzco and Adrian Pérez, aka Los Pérez.The single marks the actor and singer’s first song to be recorded entirely in Spanish in nearly a decade, and in the&nbsp;accompanying&nbsp;video we see Gomez return to her Hispanic roots, and dreamily move past heartbreak as she traverses through rooms in a home while reflecting and signing about her growth.&nbsp;“The idea was basically a journey inside a house where Selena was going through different rooms," explain&nbsp;Los Pérez.&nbsp;"Every room has a different concept behind, that is helping us to express the emotional felling of the song. She’s forgiving and letting memories vanish away."We thought that this song needed an emotional performance, so the idea of doing this one single shot approach with hidden cuts was perfect and Selena was keen on doing it.”[imgtoken data:1]Los Pérez lean into the sensibility of magical realism for the video, utilising Mexican cultural references to that end - including the central image&nbsp;of the sacred crystal heart on Selena's chest. “We wanted to play with powerful language and images," they add. "We designed the heart (we call it the Milagro in Mexico culture) and it’s light to be a metaphor for the healing throughout the story.”The iconic look is styled by Shirley Kurata. Dressed in a stunning Rodarte’s SS21 Daisy Floral Silk dress, with jewellery by Mexican designer Daniela Villegas. <a href="https://en.vogue.me/beauty/de-una-vez-selena-gomez-interview/" target="_blank">Los Pérez also told Vogue</a>: “We wanted to play with the amazing flowers the way Frida Kahlo did, but making it modern and cool for right now. The flowers on the dress, hair, and within the video all connect with this idea of renewal.”Due to the Covid travel ban, Los Pérez ended up directing the video remotely. Which has not prevented them from creating an enchanting video.

Vania Heymann and Gal Muggia take the intimate and make it spectacular in their video for Trevor Daniel and Selena Gomez.Starting with the Trevor and Selena's&nbsp;performance of Past Life - brought together from their respective isolation by&nbsp;Instagram Live - Heymann and Muggia then characteristically move it on to a far greater scale, with unbridled imagination - but also using the resources available to them during the lockdown.When the fourth wall of the phone screen is broken, a GGI world is created and that's a pathway to a merging of landscapes - the natural wonders of the world with contours of Selena's face. Henry Scholfield&rsquo;s latest work for Billie Eilish, sees the award winning Caviar director collaborate once again with Mosaert (Paul &lsquo;Stromae&rsquo; Van and Luc Jr Tam) on the concept. The film sees Billie with a boy in a choreographic narrative of unrequited love in a minimalist space that ebbs, flows and eventually engulfs him.Scholfield comments, &ldquo;It&rsquo;s a story of suffocating love, so we had this idea that the room itself is like an extension of Billie&rsquo;s subconscious, an echo of her own emotions. Shivering in tender moments or lashing out in the pain of rejection and eventually conspiring to hold him hostage.&rdquo;The majority of the effects were captured for real, with a combination of in camera techniques and VFX where necessary. The director notes that &ldquo;it was important for us to have as much of the mechanics and movement of the space happen in camera in order to make the relationship between them and the space more tangible. Of course there was some &lsquo;enhancement&rsquo; especially with the sinews that bind him at the end.&rdquo;In reference to Billie&rsquo;s on-screen partner, Scholfield comments, &ldquo;The dancer is an amazing young talent called Deyck. Not only is he an incredible dancer, but he could play mix of softness or earnestness to juxtapose with his natural masculinity.&rdquo;On Billie, he comments, &ldquo;She has an incredible sense of self, great ideas and a confidence that lets her craft crazily compelling performances. She only admitted when pushed that she had also been a dancer and &#39;done a little acting&#39;. It was wonderful to collaborate with her... she&rsquo;s wicked talented.&rdquo;

It sees Madonna criss-crossing from room to room, getting the&nbsp;party started. Dancing-duo&nbsp;AyaBambi&nbsp;from the beguiling &nbsp;<a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2015/03/19/snakehips-forever-sashinski" target="_blank">Snakehips&#39;&nbsp;Forever</a>&nbsp;get involved,&nbsp;providing&nbsp;their unique edge as the&nbsp;satisfyingly heavy bassline kicks in.Madonna&#39;s on a mission to cover a lot of ground, so she&#39;s&nbsp;quickly&nbsp;piggy-backed away to&nbsp;the&nbsp;dance&nbsp;floor where a series of cameos grace the screen, some in the scene (Rita Ora, Chris Rock and Diplo), while others&nbsp;(Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Kanye West) have been added in later (and are presumably Tidal-related).&nbsp;Nicki Minaj is also not physically present either, when delivering her rap. Madonna doesn&#39;t seem to mind, heading up to the rooftop where the party&#39;s just begun.&nbsp;

It&#39;s an enticing&nbsp;performance lit with neon light and populated with glow-in-the-dark backup dancers, and gives Borns (aka Garrett Borns) pretentions of icon status.&nbsp;He performs atop a glowing LED dance platform before suddenly&nbsp;glowing white-hot himself. Then continuing with the video&#39;s&nbsp;electricity-centered theme, the singer finds himself in an&nbsp;animated electric love vortex made up of&nbsp;neon signs. A trippy video for all the new-age psyche-lovers out there.&nbsp;
