Romain Chassaing's long-awaited return to music videos has come for the French-Moroccan rapper Kekra - and in Chassaing's trademark style this is a fast-moving,&nbsp;action-packed tale, with a sense of humour as dark as it's dystopian setting.&nbsp;Kekra always appears with his face obscured, and in the video for Putain De Salaire&nbsp;he becomes a post-apocalyptic superhero, transformed by the radioactive waste that collects in murky corners of a&nbsp;brutal city run on slave labour. The plot of the video centres around the accidental effect of the toxic substance upon him and his newly found powers that&nbsp;spark a rebellion among the downtrodden underclass.&nbsp;Chassaing was inspired by his love of graphic novels and working closely with DoP Rik Zang, he has created a richly atmospheric dystopia, mixing references&nbsp;from Blade Runner to Alan Moore's graphic novels, with a nod to Wong Kar-wai.The video was shot in Thailand over&nbsp;two gruelling 18-hour days - thanks to some superhuman efforts from crew and service company Eastness. The extensive post production - involving&nbsp;CGI characters, digital effects and matte painting to add an epic scale - by FIRM in Paris was also turned around in time to have the video finished within a four-week schedule from treatment to delivery.It is Romain Chassaing's first video since his two for Dizzee Rascal, Bop And Keep It Dippin'&nbsp;and <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2018/10/19/dizzee-rascal-x-skepta-money-right-romain-chassaing/55603" target="_blank">Money Right</a>. He's been focussing more on building his profile in commercials since then. It is very good to have him back.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

This stunning short by Antoine Levi for Anglo- Egyptian electronica duo San Zhi, was&nbsp;shot in Varanasi, India,&nbsp;documenting the journey&nbsp;of a boy following the steps of a traditional funeral ceremony.Directed by Antione Levi and shot by Romain Alary, the ethereal yet sombre feel of the track is reflected in black and white tones, depicting the solemn ritual taking place. What is most striking of all perhaps are the close ups of the featured characters; moving portraits, each stare&nbsp;at the camera calling the viewer to bear witness to the scene.

J.A.C.K have made a very enigmatic video for MØ&#39;s&nbsp;When I Was Young. In so doing, the French directing duo have captured&nbsp;the Danish popster&#39;s&nbsp;distinctive charisma in a way not previously achieved in her videos.In a deserted village, a solitary MØ is joined by two other versions of herself, one in white the other in black&nbsp;- the latter accompanied by a group of skeleton-clad ghouls. With a combination of artful choreography and visual effects, the original&nbsp;MØ allies with one of her duplicates to battle the other, and her ghouls.&nbsp;MØ has revealed that the inspiration for the video came from Edvard Munch, the Norwegian artist best known for The Scream.&nbsp;&ldquo;I&rsquo;m so happy to present this video because it feels very true to the song and to who I am,&rdquo; she says. &quot;It was inspired by a painting called The Dance Of Life [by Munch]...&nbsp;It&rsquo;s an illustration of three women &ndash; one in white, one in red and one in black &ndash; and tells a story about three stages of human life: youth, maturity, and old age.&quot;I was always drawn to this image as a kid due to its simple symbolism and emotion and have been dying to do a video that could reflect on it. Since When I Was Young is all about nostalgia and reflecting on life &ndash;especially the past, but also the now and the future &ndash; it just seemed like the perfect time to do it. So when a young accountant rips off Dizzee&#39;s vicious yet somewhat careless gangster, it sets off an epic chase, involving eye-watering identity changes and blood-curdling violence as the accountant is hunted all over the world by Dizzee&#39;s goons.Chassaing, who&#39;s up for a couple of MVAs this week for his latest magnum opus for Naive New Beaters, applies the comedy-drama aesthetic that works so well with NNB, and ramps up body count big-time. As a result, this is an absolute corker. Including confirmation, if any were needed, that Dizzee can play scary. &nbsp;

Julien Lassort&#39;s video for Ásgeir is a complex, brooding science fiction piece on the interconnectivity of humans, in a future where individuals leap between each other&#39;s personal VR experiences.&nbsp;The four intertwined stories leave out all but the slightest hints of exposition in favour of set pieces coated in Black Mirror-esque digital unease. Lassort manages to establish a convincing cinematic world of the&nbsp;near-future through very ambitious means -&nbsp;it&#39;s engrossing, and confusing, and&nbsp;beautifully executed.&nbsp;

Anthony Jorge &amp; Jonathan Cohen &ndash; better known as directing duo&nbsp;Truman &amp; Cooper &ndash; were named Best New Director at the recent UK Music Video Awards. Now comes their new video&nbsp;for Rag N Bone Man&#39;s Hell Yeah - and&nbsp;further&nbsp;evidence why they earned that accolade.&nbsp;&nbsp;Not only is this a searing drama that grips from start to finish, it&#39;s delivered in a highly original fashion. The harrowing story is concerned with a young man and woman&#39;s plan to kill their violent father, about to leave jail. It shares the intensity, and the excellent nuanced performances seen in the pair&#39;s previous work for&nbsp;Kid Wise&#39;s Hope (also an award-winner at this year&#39;s MVAs) and Son Lux.But then there&#39;s the added abstraction of having all the action, including flashbacks, occur in one exterior airfield-style location. It&#39;s&nbsp;an initially disconcerting but&nbsp;ingenious Lars Von Trier-style conceit that if anything, heightens the drama further. And it all leads to a white-knuckle&nbsp;climax. What a great way to follow-up the MVAs.&nbsp;&nbsp;

This chance&nbsp;meeting reawakens some emotional and&nbsp;intense memories about their past relationship, contrasting with his present reality. There was clearly a lot of happiness, love, and strong physical attraction. And then it all went horribly wrong...It turned out that the actors -&nbsp;Eva Menis-Mercier and Mathias Vives &ndash; have known each other a long time, and they used their familiarity to explore some deep feelings. The result is one hell of a&nbsp;rollercoaster...&nbsp;

This superb video for Kid Wise&#39;s Hope by Truman &amp; Cooper - that&#39;s Jonathan Cohen and Anthony Jorge &ndash;&nbsp;is ostensibly about a feral gang of teenagers on the loose&nbsp;in the French&nbsp;countryside, and how their extreme behaviour swings wildly from the sweet to the sexual, to the repulsively violent.But that&#39;s only aspect of a story&nbsp;which is actually more devastating. In fact, the&nbsp;dynamic at the core of the video is virtually the stuff of Greek tragedy. The gawky&nbsp;kid in the gang (brilliantly played by Fred Hotier), mesmerized by the gang&#39;s leader&#39;s beautiful, sexy girlfriend, and unable to control his feelings, is drawn inexorably towards&nbsp;a horrible fate. Utterly gripping. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;

Not enough colour in your life? This is probably the video to fix that. Maxime Bruneel and a team of four other animators have cut and pasted together a Technicolor wonder for Concorde&rsquo;s Summer House. It&rsquo;s not just the pastel colour scheme that&rsquo;s interesting (and arresting) here though.
Maxime brings us into the world of two lovers, played by Cl&eacute;ment Froissart &ndash; with interesting facial arrangement &ndash; and Charlotte Poutrel. Offbeat yet subtlely sexy scenes are fused and woven together in an intricate collage style, with more than a handful of surreal glue holding it all together &ndash; the Parisien band providing the disco dream pop that feels very summery indeed.

The story of a young man obsessively holding on to his childhood dreams of being an astronaut is the basis of this charming video for Yellow Son's The King Or The Bird directed by Jonathan Cohen.
Full of both artfully homemade gear - like the centrifuge made from a desk chair - and authentic stuff, like a cosmonaut's outfit, our hero also manages to engage his flatmates in his enthusiasm, and get them involved in the build-up to the big launch...
The cast includes Jean-Nicolas Arnoux as the aspiring spaceman, and dancer/comedian Charlotte Bentz. "The cosmonaut's costume has been lent to us by the CNES (thanks!) and Dominique Perrault in person (BNF's architect) gave us his copyright to shoot the French National Library's esplanade," reveals says Nicolas de Rosanbo of Chez Eddy.
