Bibi Zhou, a huge star in China in the Mandarin-language Mandopop genre, is transformed into an interdimensional puppetmaster, controlling the lives of characters in her orbit, in the gorgeous video directed by Jonathan Desbiens -&nbsp;aka Jodeb -&nbsp;for her new track&nbsp;Luna.&nbsp;Shot in Montreal and Iceland, with a cast of dancers situated in a remarkable selection of locations -&nbsp;brooding glaciers, basalt column caves, black sand beaches and moonlit lagoons - Jodeb has created a delightful, otherworldly piece, where Bibi Zhou is the spiritual rock, literally tied to these characters.The rope that connects Bibi Zhou and the dancers over time and space is a simple but highly&nbsp;effective device in also creating a connection between Zhou, the dancers and the viewer. It is delivered with&nbsp;characteristic skill and conviction by Jodeb - aided in no small part by the brilliant cinematography by Kristof Brandl - and also invites the viewer to ponder on the metaphorical aspect of a piece in which the moon is also a force, like a character in itself.&nbsp;The artist may be only vaguely known to a Western audience, but this one stands up with Jodeb's finest work. Tom Green has created a thought-provoking and suitably moving video to accompany Ray Blk&#39;s heartfelt Run Run.This brings us into the world of a black British teenager who is almost certainly also a murder victim. But in a place somewhere between reality and a dystopian purgatory, his fear and need to escape continues.The metaphorical&nbsp;journey of the&nbsp;boy, powerfully played by Kai Francis Lewis, is intercut with Ray&#39;s performance on the terrace of a London estate.&nbsp;&quot;It was very emotional being on set to shoot the Run Run video,&quot; she says. &quot;Tears were shed.&quot;There&rsquo;s a scene where I am up on the roof of an estate in Brixton and I was looking down at these surroundings, thinking about what was probably going on in the estate. It was very real. Everyone walked away that day after filming feeling heavy.&quot;

Bastille reunite with Austin Peters for the lead-off track from their next album, and a beautifully made video featuring frontman Dan Smith on a breakneck surreal adventure through Paris and his imagination. And it begins with him shaving off his trademark big hair.Once Smith gets his smart new crew-cut, he finds himself instantaneously transported into a different scene, and then another. From club dancefloor&nbsp;to ice bath in grubby bathroom, Satanic ceremony to hanging with feisty and righteous trans people, to his constant confusion.It&#39;s a simple, strong idea served by a great production, and excellent direction by Peters - it&#39;s his fourth&nbsp;video for Bastille, following&nbsp;Flaws, Laura Palmer and Oblivion. And the video also features&nbsp;standout work by DoP Kristof Brandl and editor James Rose.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;We made the video over a couple of days and nights in Paris with our incredibly talented friend, and long-time collaborator, Austin Peters,&rdquo; Smith has said in a statement.&nbsp;&ldquo;It&rsquo;s a nod towards some of our favourite films and directors. DoP-turned-director Kristof Brandl won an MVA last year for his first video for Charlotte Cardin. That was intense, but it was just a prelude to this extraordinarily powerful work for Cardin&#39;s The Kids.This is a white-knuckle ride of emotional turmoil, delivered with a stunning command of imagery, drawing on themes of innocence, addiction, pain and love. We experience it through the eyes of a young boy in a broken family, withdrawing from his opiated parents.Incorporating both VFX-fired surrealism and dialogue,&nbsp;Brandl&#39;s hard-bitten&nbsp;story&nbsp;relates an unmistakeable truth: how the delicate trajectory of a child&rsquo;s life hinges on their environment during their upbringing. And with it, he has also announced himself as an exceptionally talented director.

J.A.C.K have made a very enigmatic video for MØ&#39;s&nbsp;When I Was Young. In so doing, the French directing duo have captured&nbsp;the Danish popster&#39;s&nbsp;distinctive charisma in a way not previously achieved in her videos.In a deserted village, a solitary MØ is joined by two other versions of herself, one in white the other in black&nbsp;- the latter accompanied by a group of skeleton-clad ghouls. With a combination of artful choreography and visual effects, the original&nbsp;MØ allies with one of her duplicates to battle the other, and her ghouls.&nbsp;MØ has revealed that the inspiration for the video came from Edvard Munch, the Norwegian artist best known for The Scream.&nbsp;&ldquo;I&rsquo;m so happy to present this video because it feels very true to the song and to who I am,&rdquo; she says. &quot;It was inspired by a painting called The Dance Of Life [by Munch]...&nbsp;It&rsquo;s an illustration of three women &ndash; one in white, one in red and one in black &ndash; and tells a story about three stages of human life: youth, maturity, and old age.&quot;I was always drawn to this image as a kid due to its simple symbolism and emotion and have been dying to do a video that could reflect on it. Since When I Was Young is all about nostalgia and reflecting on life &ndash;especially the past, but also the now and the future &ndash; it just seemed like the perfect time to do it. Sing J. Lee explores what it means to belong in this fast-paced, lush-looking video for Tchami.Using non-actors and shooting almost entirely in Shanghai, Sing draws from his own experiences as a British-born Chinese man to create a deeply personal study of a girl from rural China being swept away by the city. Opulent, towering architecture and the colourful lights of a metropolis at night dazzle, overwhelm and ultimately take their toll on our protagonist, resulting in a visually poetic, serene final scene in which she revisits her roots with a new outlook.

After a quiet spell Sing J Lee steps up to the mark again in&nbsp;music videos with a real statement for Halsey. And&nbsp;it&#39;s&nbsp;just for starters.The video for Now Or Never is a blockbuster - a big, cinematic fantasy&nbsp;action thriller with blue-haired Halsey falling&nbsp;for a rival gang member during a turf war of heavily armed kids&nbsp;in a dangerous near-future LA.&nbsp;Everything leads inexorably to a gripping and very violent climax, and it&#39;s expertly&nbsp;helmed by Lee, in his first big&nbsp;Stateside music video. And this happens to be&nbsp;just the first half of the story. As Halsey escapes to cut her blue locks and recover from the trauma, we suspect there will be&nbsp;further twists in the tale.It&#39;s beautifully shot by&nbsp;Kristof&nbsp;Brandl, and as well as the two for Halsey, Sing J Lee has also worked with the DoP in a video shot in Shanghai for Tchami that comes out shortly. With another video for Raye in pre-production, Lee is well and truly back - all guns blazing.

Jonathan Desbiens - aka&nbsp;Jodeb &ndash; has realised perhaps his most ambitious filmic endeavour yet: a twenty-minute long&nbsp;short film in three acts, filmed in Thailand, for&nbsp;Wiwek and&nbsp;Skrillex called&nbsp;Still In The Cage.Beautifully shot by&nbsp;Kristof Brandl and scored by Wiwek&rsquo;s The Free and Rebellious EP, the film follows&nbsp;a close&nbsp;group of&nbsp;troubled&nbsp;friends who&nbsp;reach breaking point. When&nbsp;one friend&nbsp;half-jokingly suggests&nbsp;running away to join a rumoured community of free-spirited people, the three women suddenly&nbsp;decide&nbsp;to make a break for it. The trio steal a man&#39;s rowboat on the river, thus beginning their&nbsp;perilous&nbsp;journey&nbsp;into the jungle...The goal:&nbsp;to&nbsp;shake their spirits up and possibly&nbsp;find a new life amongst the tribe. But at at what cost? Are they willing to give up their past lives or even - their past selves?&nbsp;

Montreal singer&nbsp;Charlotte Cardin has paired up with DP-turned-director&nbsp;Kristof Brandl for this gorgeous portrait of a tumultuous relationship.&nbsp;The passion-filled romance&nbsp;between the singer and artist Husser plays out in cinematic style, with the pair hooking up, fighting, breaking up and making up in quick succession. Beautifully shot by&nbsp;Christophe Collette, the video offers an impressive variety photographic textures,&nbsp;with the couple in motels, outdoor locations and intimate bedroom scenes captured in&nbsp;colour and&nbsp;monochromatic footage. And there&#39;s some stunning still photography by&nbsp;John Londono.And although there is only a hint of a narrative, the action-packed video keeps you interested all the way to the end.&nbsp;
