Jack Whiteley directs a hilariously&nbsp;offbeat promo for Liverpool-based duo Dogshow.&nbsp;After nearly a decade of live shows, this single hails from&nbsp;the brothers' first ever EP, debuting on Berlin's Hot Concept label.&nbsp;The video sees Sam and Laurie dancing around their North Liverpool venue, The Invisible Wind Factory, as well as popping up in different locations in the vicinity.&nbsp;From hot-boxing their Toyota Yaris in a nearby multi-storey to having a dip in the Crowne Plaza’s blue lagoon, the video is a mash-up of tight lycra, Dad dancing and deadpan performance, which amalgamates to create something mindlessly fun and engaging.&nbsp;

Dreamjob - that's Jack Whiteley and Joe Wills - give the now-familiar Groundhog Day structure an existential makeover for Metronomy's return to action with the aptly titled&nbsp;It's Good To Be Back.Metronomy's frontman Joe Mount encounters his fellow bandmembers through a series of studio-set exteriors of exaggerated fakeness. He ends the sequence with a singing cowboy in front of a sunset backdrop 'shooting' him with his fingers, sending Mount spinning back to the beginning.[imgtoken data:1]As he repeats the sequence of events, things inevitably change, but not quite in the way you might expect. This is no exercise in achieving improvement and ultimate perfection - quite the opposite. Mount and company's swing between indifference, cheeriness, depression and beyond, as they head repeatedly to the cowboy's inevitable finger-gun.Heroic failure is so more interesting than success...

Directing duo Dreamjob - that's Jack Whiteley and Joe Wills - present an excellent&nbsp;cinematic comedy&nbsp;for Dead Nature, the new band of former Spring King singer/drummer Tarek Musa.Featuring the larger-than-life presence of Konstantin&nbsp;Nestoridis, the video for Watch Me Break Apart takes place at the latter stages of a lengthy drinking session in a moving caravan. With the atmosphere of a mid-century Balkan arthouse comedy, Musa is revived from apparent drunken weariness&nbsp;by the appearance of a bag of pistachio nuts - and a jovial guitarist played by Miroslav Miroslavov.[imgtoken data:1]With a terrific combination of overblown theatricality and cinematic flair, with excellent cinematography by&nbsp;Luís Santos, Whiteley and Wills have created an enthralling and stylish short film&nbsp;for Musa's new project - which reveals its appropriate title at the end: The Last Pistachio.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;“A fraternal journey through the shell, deep into the flesh of the nut," say Dreamjob about the film. Having worked together on a Little Dragon video last year, Jack Whiteley and Joe Wills have formed a new directing partnership as Dreamjob, launching the team with the off-the-wall video for Flyte's I've Got A Girl.These purveyors of peerless indie-pop have a new beauty in I've Got A Girl, visualised in a strange brew of symbolic imagery which has the band fitted into a showbiz version of medieval stocks, drenched in blood-red juice, and tormented by a trio of mysterious&nbsp;characters - their chief tormentor played with wild-eyed gusto by Tina Malone, from Shameless.Only briefly are Flyte able to&nbsp;break out of their confinement to perform the song - then it's back to the stocks. What can it all mean? Dreamjob are not giving too much away, describing it simply as "an ode to love lost, irrelevance and new beginnings". The rest is very much open to interpretation.

Jack Whiteley returns to music videos - his first since a deliciously kooky number for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2019/04/12/aldous-harding-fixture-picture-jack-whiteley-aldous-harding/58231" target="_blank">Aldous Harding</a> earlier in the year - to undertake an surprising, sizzling makeover for erstwhile earnest indie-rockers All We Are.&nbsp;In keeping with the change&nbsp;to a&nbsp;funkier sound on their forthcoming third album, Whiteley has introduced a new element to the band's previously worthy profile - sex. But then delivers the naughty stuff&nbsp;in a charmingly tongue-in-cheek package for the album's first single L Is For Lose.It's a hot, sultry, even sweaty&nbsp;August night in Miami in about 1985 - shot in a studio, rather like a music video of the era. The band have the mock edgy attitude, like from a Pat&nbsp;Benatar video.&nbsp;But unlike the 80s, its embellished with garish&nbsp;animation that delivers&nbsp;the lyrics - created by Whitelely's regular collaborator Joe Wills - that seeps and blisters through the screen.&nbsp;It's a lurid aesthetic that's something of an acquired taste - but once acquired, you can settle back and enjoy, together with the various pleasures to be had from All We Are's change in musical direction.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Jack Whiteley gets together with New Zealand singer-songwriter Aldous Harding for this marvellous outing of minimalist quirkiness.With a wonderful beach location - it's a secret as to exactly where, apparently&nbsp;- a striking use of colour, and a performance by Harding that gives full rein to her&nbsp;personality, she and Whiteley have created something really special for the lovely Fixture Picture.&nbsp;She certainly knows how to hold a tambourine. And how to rock a wide-brimmed hat.

Jack Whiteley and Joe Wills get together to conflate the worlds of videogaming, cosplay, and classic disco, to create something really special for Little Dragon.It all starts with a teenage girl rushing into her bedroom to get&nbsp;stuck into her favourite online video game&nbsp;- which introduces us to fantastically off-the-wall real-life cosplay characters, in a country house retrreat, and the fictional Bodins Castle, where all manner . It's there that her blue garbed, pointy chinned avatar&nbsp;meets &lt;lil dragon&gt;, and plenty more intriguing characters (with the occasional 3D figure mixed in with the real).&nbsp;They connect - and then later on the castle dancefloor.With fantastic attention to layers of detail,&nbsp;Whiteley and Wills bring brilliant costume design, makeup, VFX and choreographu&nbsp;- and make regular returns to the charming young player, to create a superbly imaginative&nbsp;soufflé for Little Dragon's Lover Chanting.Brilliant stuff, for a&nbsp;fantastic song, which is&nbsp;taken from their brand new ‘Lover Chanting’ EP which is set for release digitally on 9th November with a special 12” black vinyl release scheduled for 16th November.

And then it begins to strip away at the artifice.Whiteley&#39;s video for In My View is a meta-satire&nbsp;that like others of it&#39;s ilk&nbsp;works on at least a couple of levels - not least in presenting Young Fathers in a fascinating&nbsp;light. It coincides with the announcement of the band&#39;s third album, and makes you want to hear it.&nbsp;

Jack Whiteley and Laura Brownhill's winning video for Elton John's music video competition The Cut&nbsp;imagines his mid-70s classic&nbsp;Bennie and The Jets&nbsp;as a gorgeous black and white dance film inspired by classic Hollywood.With nods to Busby Berkley musicals and the work of Fritz Lang, the promo imagines a retro-futurist dance competition floating through space. With wonderful choreography, set design, costume, make-up, camerawork and editing all working in perfect synchronicity to evoke a modern twist on a distinct era, the video is a wonderful celebration of Expressionist cinema.

It's more of the same great 90s pastiche we saw in the Detroit video, only now the characters are out in the real world. However, it's not long before the cracks start to show and it becomes painfully clear that this isn't a match made in heaven.

In quite a change of direction for a video for folk outfit The Staves, Jack Whiteley has directed this very sharp comedy for Black &amp; White, in which an '80s Australian evening news show goes into meltdown off-camera when the lady newsreader (played by Nell Mooney) discovers, as the programme starts, that her suave co-host is cheating on her with the weathergirl.Building the tension&nbsp;between what the viewers are seeing on TV, and what's really going on in the studio - with the Stave girls appearing as onlooking crew - it's a delicious car-crash moment, beautifully&nbsp;executed&nbsp;by the crew in front of the camera, and the one behind it.
