Rolling into 2021 with TikTok celeb&nbsp;Doggface, Courtney Phillips directs a dazzling promo for David Guetta &amp; MORTEN's version of the Fleetwood Mac classic Dreams.The skateboarding, Mexico-based viral sensation is shown skating down an endless desert highway, gaining fans and followers on his way.&nbsp;He passes journalists, fellow skaters and curious kids - becoming a sort of skate version of Forrest Gump -&nbsp;before transcending his physical limits and floating into the air and off to sea.&nbsp;In a perfect storm of virality and a pitch-perfect concept, the promo is engaging from the first frame, and it's one with infinite replay value. Whilst many similar videos live and die in the short window of their celebrity star's&nbsp;internet fame, Phillips' ability to intertwine the current zeitgeist and an offbeat concept means that this will continue to gain momentum well into the future.&nbsp;

Bryson Tiller tries to turn back the clock in Rohan Blair-Mangat's&nbsp;emotive video for Right My Wrongs.&nbsp;The video was made to coincide with the re-release of&nbsp;Tiller's debut album, and depicts the artist enjoying success and apparent harmony with his partner - played by Jordan Coleman - but there is something else going on here.&nbsp;Intermixing documentary-style footage and stills&nbsp;with polished narrative setups, the blurred boundaries between real life and fantasy bleed into the overall aesthetic, resulting in a piece that slowly reveals its purpose.&nbsp;&nbsp;The&nbsp;use of subtitles to represent the characters' innermost thoughts&nbsp;- as opposed to their spoken words - creates an extra layer of depth to the story, that ultimately reveals itself as a&nbsp;story about the&nbsp;reality, and the downside, of&nbsp;escalating success - the hidden woes of fame.&nbsp;

Dance-offs get dystopian in the superb video for Charlotte De Witte &amp; Chris Liebing, directed by Fernando&nbsp;Nogari.The video tells a nonnormative love story between two outsiders struggling to survive under absurd circumstances. Inspired by the dance marathons held during the Great Depression, it’s set up in a dystopian near future where a girl’s only option to pay her lover’s debt and save his life is to compete in an underground marathon where contestants dance until they drop (and probably die).Lensed by Swedish DoP Erik Henrikson, who has worked on music videos for Beyoncé, The Weekend and Young Lean, the video was shot entirely in São Paulo. The visuals are intense and raw, treading a line between Mad Max and Gasper Noe's filmography, and the sweaty orange and copper colour palette lends an apocalyptic feel to the proceedings.

Helman strips it all the way back for this gritty, instinctive performance video, starring French-British rapper Octavian and Smoke Purpp in a throng of phone-waving supporters.Last seen directing an ambitious four-part video project for shey baba, Helman has gone back to basics for this visual, designed around the simple social dynamic of a filmed performance. The video is shot on 35mm, but it takes cues from the rough-and-ready style of old school SBTV freestyle videos -&nbsp;lit entirely by phone torches.In spite of this lo-fi process, the video looks luminescent, thanks to inky photography by Hayden Mason and a nuclear grade by Houmam Abdallah.

In this director&#39;s cut of Courtney Phillips&#39;s video for Dermot Kennedy, you get the full force of an absorbing story of courage and determination, set in the heart of Havana, Cuba.It&#39;s all about a girl boxer who wants to be the best - not just among her fellow females, but against the boys too. Her motivation is utterly believable - we see her homelife, where she and her younger sister have no mother figure to defend them against a father who oozes malevolence. She needs to somehow escape.This comes with the context of Cuba itself. It has&nbsp;that unique character that makes it so good on film - and it&#39;s never looked more richly atmospheric, thanks to brilliant work by the DoP&nbsp;David Procter. But the appraoch, combining drama and&nbsp;documentary, is also revealing about the true hardship&nbsp;under which people live. Havana may be beautiful, but as Phillips&#39; excellent video shows, it&#39;s also an extremely tough place.&nbsp;

Jessy Moussallem&#39;s epic&nbsp;video for Mashrou&rsquo; Leila&#39;s Roman&nbsp;is an ode to the strength and grace of Arab women and their continuous fight for feminist action, featuring one hundred women.&nbsp;Revolving around the lyrical pivot in the chorus: &ldquo;aleihum&rdquo; (charge!), it uses a group of women who&rsquo;s ethnic backgrounds are consciously over-articulated through choices of styling and location in a manner more typically employed by Western media to represent victimhood and oppression. By doing so, the film seeks to disturb the global narrative of hyper-secularized white feminism, which positions itself as being ideologically incompatible with Islam and the Arab World.The still, pale landscape allows the force of the women&rsquo;s resolute dignity to radiate, as the dancer&rsquo;s fierce movements cut through the quietude. Together, the women walk into the water, confident in their agency and fearless in their determination for a sea change. The unique spirit of the film emerges from the gut of the Middle East through the work of the music, the narrative, and the Arab female director behind it.

Ben Strebel has directed a striking music video for Italian duo Parisi and Wu Tang Clan&#39;s RZA that highlights the desperate situation faced&nbsp;by the millions caught up in the global refugee crisis.&nbsp;In a collaboration with US creative agency Stay In School, Strebel&nbsp;the trauma experienced by ordinary people forced to leave their homes is expressed by the actions of a group dropped in a misty nowhere by a coach. They start to move, which then becomes a dance that becomes a reaction ot the endless movement, and seemingly hopeless journey to an unknown destination. The strength of the piece is how it highlights individuals as well as the group, offering a window&nbsp;into the desperate world of the refugee.&nbsp;&quot;I wanted to create a film that showed each individual on a journey forced upon them, ceaseless, restless and without a destination in sight,&quot; says Ben Strebel. &quot;My interpretation of the song drew on the persona! history of forced migration that my family experienced sixty years ago.&quot;Ail proceeds from streams and sales of the song will be donated to the UNHCR - the United Nations Refugee Agency - to aid the ongoing refugee crisis.&nbsp;&quot;lt sits uncomfortably close to home seeing innocent families who have escaped war and destruction only to be ill-treated and regarded like criminals when they&#39;re in need of safety.&quot; says Feh Tarty, a native of war-torn Liberia and Creative Partner of Stay in School. &quot;This project is a perfect marriage between awareness displayed beautifully and effortless action.
