Shan Phearon exercises his love of the medium, doffing a fanboy cap along the way, with his super-slick monochrome affair for Jordy, featuring Louis Rei - paying homage to that indispensible part of hip hop vids in the MTV age: the 'Video Vixens'.&nbsp;The&nbsp;video for Too Much is a deconstructed, minimalist concept, paying homage to 2000's-era B&amp;W aesthetics - with nods to videos for&nbsp;Puff Daddy, Q-Tip, Nas and Mariah -&nbsp;in a thoughtful manner. It will have viewers of a certain age nostalgic for the videos from&nbsp;their youth - but there's also a&nbsp;contemporary spin.&nbsp;Shot by DoP Courtney Bennett, it&nbsp;boasts a nostalgic, monochromatic style and plenty of visual energy, and comes as a healthy palate cleanse after the intensity&nbsp;of Phearon's recent work for&nbsp;U2 and Jazmin Bean. And also gives the Video Vixens - the girls who featured regularly in those classic promos - some overdue kudos and respect."Soulful activity this one, with Day 1 film friends," says Phearon of the experience working with Bennett and others on making the video.&nbsp;"[We were] Re-exploring cultural ideas we grew up on, through the shifting lenses of our later years. He adds that for the video he cast girls that often appear in the videos of the grassroots British rap scene today, and immortalised them on pristine 35mm.&nbsp; Shan: "I guess it's not a music video with just Video Vixens in them. It's a music video about them. An open-minded honouring of an influential sect."

Simon Owens's video for electronica duo Lunge features bandmember Viva expressing herself with controlled abandon within&nbsp;the vast empty space of Black Island Studios. And it is something to behold.&nbsp;This is the first of two videos by Owens for the band, who he discovered whilst listening to Marc Riley's evening&nbsp;show on 6Music. Turned out to be a match made in heaven as his video for This Idle Motion&nbsp;has a real sense of joy, and timelessness. It's a beautiful exercise&nbsp;in capturing&nbsp;a great performance."Lunge appeared all silvery, reflective and urgent through my left kneecap," says Owens, enigmatically. "I looked down, bent my knee and heard golden pop. I was next to the radio as Marc Riley played 'Off with their heads' for the 108th time. I loved it."I found myself talking with one half of the band, after a few messages back n forth we get talking about swinging, lots of swinging. That idea didn’t work out and it struck me the lead singer Viva could have two personalities in song form, dark and light (reality is lovely and lovelier), or light and shadow. So here it is Viva as light and shadow choreographed by us, Viva and me."If you watch Viva carefully when looking up to the sky she can actually see GLASS-z12 galaxy, us mere mortals could only see an old man precariously stood on a narrow piece of wood clutching a light. Director duos The Rest and UNCANNY team up for an 'exercise in patience and self reflection' in the video for slowthai's Selfish.&nbsp;The video sees the artist trapped in a glass box, with nothing but paint, paper and his own reflection as company.&nbsp;Swapping out his often-cheeky persona for a much darker, introspective side of his character, the video is full of angst, fear and confusion, which is mirrored by the bubbling tension and explosive release in the cinematography.&nbsp;Opening with a slow, contained tracking shot to establish the environment, the camera soon launches into a frantic sprint from side to side, enveloping the mayhem that is unleashed on the inside of the box.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Lx's compelling promo for Lucious.&nbsp;Navigating the world of paparazzi and relentless media attention, we see the artists surrounded by middle men and journalists, whilst they try and move through their day-to-day lives with as little disruption as possible.&nbsp;Though left purposefully abstract in terms of narrative, the video packs in lots of references - including a slick nod to Pulp Fiction and The Dark Knight - whilst weaving Lx's signature style into every frame.&nbsp;The video is anchored by strong performances and engaging vignettes, which work just as well as standalones as they do part of the larger visual world.&nbsp;

Charlie Robins directs a hypnotic promo for The Comet Is Coming.&nbsp;Unabashedly wild and atmospheric, the visual sees a small group of people driven insane by an enigmatic force, visualised in the form of a circle.&nbsp;Kept purposefully vague, Robins combines live action with elements of animation, demanding&nbsp;viewers to come to their own conclusion as to what's happening. One thing's for sure, it's not your everyday scenario.[imgtoken data:1]"This was always going to be pretty nuts," says Robins. "I had a great conversation with the band about the new album called Hyper Dimensional Expansion Beam. That name was enough of a jumping off point, and I just threw a load of crazy shit at it. It felt right to be weird and post-apocalyptic but also disorientating and fucked up. I wanted to make people feel a bit sick in all honesty. "The music is so crazy yet intricately put together, there is something beautifully chaotic about it which fit very well with some post and camera techniques I’ve been developing for a while."I worked very closely with the immense team at Agile (particularly the post guys!) to make this film happen. What a seriously talented, generous and wonderful bunch of humans they are."&nbsp;

Vasilisa Forbes continues her collaborative streak with Pale Waves, directing the theatrical promo for Clean.The video is set in a theatre, and explores the contrast between the intimate backstage world, (the inner-self) and ‘putting on a show’.Inspired by cabaret and Old Hollywood glamour, we see vocalist Heather backstage, draped in pearls and luxury styling, before appearing on stage with the band, playing to an empty room.&nbsp;Amplifying the dichotomy of reality and fiction, the video is peppered with surrealist moments - such as an homage to the iconic red rose sequence in American Beauty - and traverses the line between fantasy and the real world.&nbsp;

THE REST direct an eerie, metaphorical&nbsp;tale for Bodmin Moor - SBTRKT’s first single in six years.With the unmistakeable atmosphere of an English horror movie, two young men enter the modern home of an assured older woman, unravelling the artwork that they have brought with them to show her. The pair are then split up. Never a good sign...THE&nbsp;REST - Alex Motlhabane and Lewis Levi - ratchet up the tension throughout this enigmatic narrative, alluding to&nbsp;the legendary tale of the Creature of Bodmin Moor and a cult that feverishly worships it.SBTRKT came up with the concept, with Nila - who created the artwork that is central to the narrative. "There's a whole lot of story layers in the video which i’ll leave you to figure out!"&nbsp;SBTRKT writes under the video on YouTube. "Check the trailer which is the prequel to it!&nbsp;"The main plot for the video represents my journey through the music business - and my prior records being owned in perpetuity by someone else. A big part of my reason for taking so long to return is navigating the industry and figuring out how to own my art."&nbsp;
