In one of the most enthralling examples of AI-fired creativity to be seen in music videos towards the end of last year,&nbsp;Tristan Holmes animated more than&nbsp;10,000 frames generated on AI program Midjourney to create a stunning visceral experience for the Chicago-based heavy metal band Disturbed.Crucially, Holmes successfully manages to harness the possibilities of the technology to work with his own purpose and vision for the epic track Bad Man - the band's protest against the Russian invasion of Ukraine.&nbsp;The video is an assault on the senses, but the director's own painterly visual aesthetic shines through.[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;[imgtoken data:2]The process took Holmes over a month of intense work, but the results are stupendous.&nbsp;“This video has been a labor of love and I am super proud to share it," Holmes has said."Inspired by the plight of the Ukrainian people it is a poignant and powerful comment on the world today and the rise of autocracy not only in Eastern Europe but in other parts of the world."<div>&nbsp;</div>

He is just too wasted to protest...

Chris Fowles directs a poignant promo for Cavetown's Fall In Love With A Girl, featuring&nbsp;Beabadoobee.The video sees the artist - real name Robin Skinner - create a series of narrative setups in a dollhouse, using small figurines and a selection of to-scale props. One of those small figurines follows the song's lead - they are placed in a conventional&nbsp;heterosexual relationship; but each time Cavetown's character returns to the doll's house, they have mysteriously turned away from this stereotypical set-up.&nbsp;Then a turning point changes the course of the narrative - triggered by the arrival of Bea, when Robin is absent. The figurine can then embrace the&nbsp;same-sex relationship they dream&nbsp;of.[imgtoken data:1]Fowles shows impressive storytelling craft in making this all work. He approaches it in an&nbsp;an accessible, artistic way,&nbsp;and DoP Terrence Wilkins' superb cinematography - both in and out of the dollhouse - elevates the entire project. The performances of the artists also strike&nbsp;the right note.&nbsp;&nbsp;"I was so excited when this brief came in,"&nbsp;says Fowles. "The track was such an earworm and an incredible chance to work with artists like Robin and Bea, who I’ve been a fan of for a while."The video is a playful lesson in not being able to control who you fall in love with. Cavetown pleads his case to the stern magistrate on the bench by performing the song, and the prosecutor and shifty pet shop owner - claiming ownership of the pets - invert the truth and falsely accuse him&nbsp;of theft.With taught directing and editing, Lewis Cater creates a new&nbsp;take on the classic scenario of the individual unjustly caught on the grinding wheels of justice and establishment power. Drawing inspiration from 90s nostalgia, Audrey Ellis Fox's video for ONR and Phantogram's Sarah Barthel is a cinematic portrayal of sunken romances, for the naggingly catchy Must Stop.&nbsp;With ONR (aka Scottish singer-songwriter Robert David Shields) in Manchester and Barthel in LA, Fox adopts a nouvelle vague aesthetic to tie their performances together,&nbsp;intercut with deeply contrasting, colour-saturated footage of the sometime objects of their affections. We get hints of storylines as we glimpse at these glamourous but dangerous exes, on a particular Saturday night.Ultimately the video becomes a collage of vignettes juxtaposed with the increasingly emotional turns by the performers. Nice work.

Cavetown gets stuck in his own head in Telescope, directed by Moon.&nbsp;Telling the story of the singer&nbsp;songwriter’s ongoing conflict with depression, and the constant battles faced with being stuck inside your own mind, the minimalist visuals are surreal and off balance, creating a dreamlike atmosphere. Understated but powerful, Cavetown's solo appearance in the video is poignant, and represents how the underlying themes are both personal and universal.&nbsp;Superbly shot by&nbsp;Francis Lane, the balance of dark and light helps represent the duality of the project, and the spinning camera movements and striking art direction ensure our attention is kept throughout.&nbsp;

Gallant's latest video has real legs. Bennett Johnson directs this clever piece of choreography, in which Gallant tries to escape a sharp-heeled femme fatale. The&nbsp;twist being that we only see either of them&nbsp;from the thigh down.Ever heard of the <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/science/head-quarters/2016/sep/19/the-thatcher-illusion-are-faces-special">Thatcher Illusion</a>? Try staring into your friend's eyes, upside-down, for more than a minute. More likely than not, your brain will begin to compensate, and start seeing a horrifying inverted 'correct'&nbsp;face with a forehead for a chin. Well, there’s a moment as you’re watching Sharpest Edges where you stop seeing cropped humans. And you&nbsp;start seeing anthropomorphic pairs of legs with personalities, fears and dreams.&nbsp;The trick is pretty spectacular. A&nbsp;potent reminder that there is still room for experimentation in the most obvious of places.

But things have changed, and he&#39;s trapped in the memories of a perfect day. Podenco&#39;s technique creates a scrapbook-like effect where past and present appear together.&nbsp;As the visuals mix and match,&nbsp;the faded paper strips and colourful paints could embody his past and his present as one.Podenco also incorporates a performance by Shinoda and K.Flay which provides a counterpoint to the story of the young man struggling with his rehabilitation, and the intense visual style does not obscure the moving twist in the tale of this beautifully executed video.&nbsp;&nbsp;
