Kassandra Powell directs an absorbing comeback promo for Bimini, which shows that you can find glamour in the most unlikely places.&nbsp;The&nbsp;video for Rodeo opens with Bimini on a mechanical bull, shining bright as lights refract from the&nbsp;abundance of reflective monochromatic textures.&nbsp;Quickly bringing the concept back down to Earth, we realise this whole setup is in a typical British pub, and the punters are as about as apathetic to Bimini's performance as they come. But whilst most glare&nbsp;disapprovingly as Bimini continues to do her thing, one character breaks out of their passive state to get absorbed into the otherworldly trance of the music.&nbsp;The contrast of glossy pop concept and&nbsp;stoic public is a brilliant visual dynamic, and DoP&nbsp;Luke Dryden's cinematography captures the perfect balance of these two opposing styles.[imgtoken data:1][imgtoken data:2]

The third video from the Arctic Monkeys latest album The Car continues in the same vein as the previous two - like a viewing a random mix&nbsp;of old film footage of a Seventies band, that rather magically hangs together.The band's longtime collaborator Ben Chappell follows Brook Linder (with <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2022/10/06/arctic-monkeys-body-paint-brook-linder/78633" target="_blank">Body Paint</a>) and band frontman Alex Turner (with <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2022/09/09/arctic-monkeys-thered-better-be-mirrorball-alex-turner/78221" target="_blank">There'd Better Be A Mirrorball</a>) in helming the video for Sculptures Of Anything Goes, and it's another gorgeous experience, revelling in the irreplaceable quality of working in the medium of film, allowing the aesthetic to do the heavy lifting.It also has to be the coolest way to&nbsp;frame Turner's intent&nbsp;to be regarded as a modern-day crooner. That might just pay off.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

The second in a series of videos by William Williamson for Philip Selway of Radiohead's forthcoming solo album Strange Dance continues the story begun in the first. The video for Picking Up Pieces&nbsp;features the same quartet of iconic dancers as the video for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2022/12/09/philip-selway-check-signs-life-william-williamson/79675" target="_blank">Check For Signs Of Life</a>:&nbsp;Siobhan Davies, Kenneth Olumuyiwa Tharp, Liam Francis and Simone Davies - with the piece also choreographed by Liam Francis&nbsp;and Simone Davies.Once again, it is filmed as a one-shot, with cinematography by DoP&nbsp;Adric Watson, this time working with colour 16mm film.&nbsp;The video features a spinning camera movement designed to mimic motoric pulse of the track, and takes it’s gorgeous golden brown autumnal colour palette from a painting made by artist Stuart Geddes in response to Selway’s new album.[imgtoken data:1]“We all viewed this film as a continuation of the last, with the choreography having echoes of our characters worlds whilst simultaneously unfolding new elements and emotions," says Williamson."I love the idea of creating a synergy between the music and the camera movement. So we not only decided to shoot this as a one take again, but the motorik pulse of the track and the powerful lyrics perfectly lent itself to a predominant circular camera movement. "Working closely with the dancers we wanted the constantly moving camera to be always revealing different components and layers of the performance, drawing attention to specific points within each frame as it passes by and the story slowly unfolds.“

Ali Gill directs a twisted comedy for InTechnicolour, drawn from the parable&nbsp;of The Scorpion &amp; The Frog .&nbsp;The video for The Wave is a human adaptation of the said parable, and follows&nbsp;a parasitic teenager who persuades a stranger to carry him to his destination - and the subsequent events that unfold between them that day.Brilliantly weird and offbeat, it's a video that lingers after watching it, and owes a huge amount to the creative concept and the top-notch performances.[imgtoken data:1]"It was important for the video to have this uncanny, deadpan tone," says Gill.&nbsp;"A lot of this came from the performance: we experimented a lot before shooting on what might be the most abnormal - and almost disturbing - method of carrying another human, which is present in most of the shots of the video."I wanted to capture the oddity of the actors in quite a composed and dispassionate manner - the video comprising largely of static wides. We were often shooting from afar on long lenses,&nbsp;with the actors performing amongst the public. Perhaps characteristic of South London, the sight of a man being dragged across the pavement caused no one to bat an eye. I love that."&nbsp;

Emmanuel Adjei returns with another signature mind-bending visual story, this time for Mark Pritchard.The clip - shot in colour and then graded in black and white by Jim Bracher at The Mill &ndash;&nbsp;allows the audience to float ghost-like around a storage-facility-turned-living-space in a near-future of overpopulation. We peer into these rooms and see vignettes of compacted lives: poverty living next door to artistry living next door to death.It&#39;s a dystopian world that exists in a perpetual state of chaos, and the camera is the visitor to this world, moving fluidly through the site in what appears to be a one-shot - courtesy of a couple of invisible cuts.

Seamlessly mixing digital, video-tap, and 16mm film formats, and forever encircling the duo as they perform, the videos format-hopping, glitchy edits combine beautifully with the light show to create a dramatic-looking film.Barnes&#39;s films bring in elements of Patten&#39;s live show, creating something impossible to reproduce live with the duo disappearing and reappearing to their own synthesised scratches. Blink and you&#39;ll miss some of the excellent edit work here.
