Blake Claridge directs a stirring promo for the long-awaited return of&nbsp;The Subways.&nbsp;The video takes place in a 70's-inspired bedroom - complete with wood panelling, graphic carpets and earthy colour palettes - with the group rocking out as the camera rotates and descends frenetically, perpetually transitioning from the top to the bottom of the room in a crane-style movement.&nbsp;"I guess I can refer to The Subways as long time collaborators now," says Blake Claridge.&nbsp;"It's been about fifteen years since our first video. Perhaps I am getting old now - I’m not!!""That was also the drive of the concept of the video. The track is certainly punk and youthful and I wanted to bring that to the piece without it feeling forced or out of touch, so kept things simple and allowed them to do what they do best."

Legendary music video director WIZ returns with a characteristically dramatic and&nbsp;enigmatic 'musicfilm' for alt-rock duo Sons Of Raphael.The band, comprised of brothers Loral and Ronnel Raphael, deliver a new take on old school psych-rock with their track&nbsp;Revolution, and&nbsp;WIZ puts the pair squarely at the centre of near-operatic psychological mini-melodrama.&nbsp;It begins with a battered and bruised&nbsp;Loral crawling painfully up steps,&nbsp;Ronnel comes to his aid, they make their way through a brutalist urban landscape. WIZ creates a dreamlike, almost absurdist drama from the economical use of the pair in an intriguing&nbsp;location, which appears to exist somewhere between reality and pure theatre.As with his other recent work&nbsp;like his video for Mika's San Remo, DoP Catherine Derry is an excellent interlocutor of WIZ's vision, the cinematography is both intimate and epic.&nbsp;

Jamie Thraves shows the benefit of reaching out directly to artists you admire with this charming video for Bristol-based singer-songwriter Katy J Pearson.Shot around Bristol with a small crew - including DoP Catherine Derry - featuring simple performance set-ups of Pearson and her band, and some apposite goofing around, Thraves's video for Something Real harks back to the early 'pre-music video' era of the pop promo.It's rather like a Beatles performance sequence from Help! - and that has to be a good thing.

YUNGBLUD is going&nbsp;through some hard times in his video for God Save Me But Don't Drown Me Out - until an old friend helps him relight the fire within.Directing his own video for the first time - in collaboration with Gavin Gottlich - YUNGBLUD (aka Dom Harrison) dramatises&nbsp;his own mental health problems, and sense of alienation from his conventional English upbringing in some effective set pieces before the song, and the fun starts. He's joined by a giant teddy bear who becomes the buddy he desperately needs. And this bear definitely has his back.&nbsp;&nbsp;It's a fun ride, intercut with a charismatic performance, in which YUNGBLUD eventually cuts loose in characteristic fashion. That&nbsp;makes this a must for his mascara-wearing massive.

Mika's San Remo is all upbeat sparking&nbsp;froth, about a Italian seaside town that was a popular destination for the beautiful people in the age of La Dolce Vita. But WIZ's video explores the flipside of that era, when homosexuality was illegal, and freedom of expression invited ruin.WIZ uses brilliant technique and economy of shots to tell the story of a man who is caught between desire and fear -&nbsp;and features an excellent&nbsp;performance from Mika himself in the main role.The use of a radio interview is crucial in establishing the scenario before we even here a note of the song. But when we do hear it, it becomes far more evocative and poignant as we already have some insight into Mika's character.&nbsp;&nbsp;WIZ has achieved this apparent alchemy before - transforming pop stars you may dismiss as being one-dimensional as intriguing, even heroic&nbsp;figures. But it does not make it any less remarkable when he does it. And this is a remarkable video - beautifully shot by Catherine Derry. It has a heart as big as San Remo itself.&nbsp;

Director Joshua Osborne has made this&nbsp;dreamy promo for Amane&rsquo;s&nbsp;The Swan With Two Necks. The wonderfully fluid video sees&nbsp;dancer Theo Lowe&nbsp;performing&nbsp;his way through Deptford Market in South London.&nbsp;In a series of unusual and expressive movements, he gets up close to the&nbsp;amused yet baffled&nbsp;locals, capturing the public&rsquo;s reactions to his&nbsp;unsettling and hypnotic movements.

BAFTA-winner Tinge Krishnan has directed an unusual and emotionally-charged piece for Talk In Colour&#39;s The Cell (Telegrams Remix)&nbsp;that uses powerful improvisation to express the raw dynamics of a couple&rsquo;s relationship. It also places actors Shobna Gulati (Coronation Street, Dinner Ladies) and Tony Pitts (War Horse, Red Riding: In The Year Of Our Lord) in situations in which they had never been seen before.&ldquo;The idea was Richard Avedon meets Steve McQueen,&quot; says Tinge. &quot;And the idea was to show two people experiencing the range of emotions that couples journey through in a relationship.&rdquo;&nbsp;Although Tony and Shobna both have dance backgrounds,&nbsp;and Tinge referenced the work of Merce Cunningham and Trisha Brown to them in prep,&nbsp;there was no actual choreography planned. The themes of rage and loss are explored &ndash; the song was itself written about cancer &ndash; where the dance elements are a subtext in the physical tussle between the actors.The improvisation theme continues with a companion piece for the original version of the song which incorporates a band performance from Talk In Colour into the improvisational process. Shobna&nbsp;and Tony guided the impro with the band responding in the moment &lsquo;in character&#39; - but having little idea what was going to happen from one moment to the next.&nbsp;&ldquo;As the band create a lot of their work based on improvised sessions I thought the mix of structure and impro might appeal to them,&quot; Tinge explains. &quot;And as Tony and Shobna are two of the most powerful improvisers I know, it worked out well.&rdquo;&nbsp;

Jamie Thraves expertly translates the lyrics about the pressures of modern living in Rizzle Kicks&#39; Lost Generation, with a lighthearted and satirical&nbsp;video about modern life today for British kids - and&nbsp;the duo&#39; own encounter with fame. It&#39;s perfectly suited to their charming, comedy-friendly persona -&nbsp;but there&#39;s a serious side&nbsp;to this too.You can&#39;t tell from watching the video, but Rizzle Kicks, Jamie Thraves and his production company <a href="http://www.hsilondon.co.uk/" target="_blank">HSI London</a>, worked with&nbsp;<a href="http://www.gothinkbig.co.uk/" target="_blank">GoThinkBig</a> - the website that helps young people get a foot on the career ladder - and from thousands of applications&nbsp;gave over 60 young people the opportunity to gain work experience on a&nbsp;big music video shoot (the Behind The Scenes video is coming here soon).&nbsp;And kudos too, to O2, who sponsored the project. And for a video that also takes aim at the desocializing effect of our obsession&nbsp;with mobile phones...&nbsp;
