Sam Ryder, the UK's impressive runner-up at this year's Eurovision Song Contest with Spaceman, returns to action with another irrepressible performance in Alex Southam's celebratory song-and-dance production for Somebody.For the unapologetically sunny track, Southam puts his own spin upon a great tradition of videos that have reimagined the old-school Hollywood musical. And that turns out to be&nbsp;pretty much the ideal vehicle for&nbsp;Ryder's larger-than-life persona.In a picture-perfect European city, Ryder&nbsp;bounces through main street, finding dance partners at the café and cinema, launching himself from a scissor lift,&nbsp;and stopping off for a quick snip at the barbers before multiplying before our eyes in his big finale. He busts some unfeasible moves in a various ways&nbsp;that recall those classic Spike Jonze videos for Bjork's Oh So Quiet and Fatboy Slim's Weapon Of Choice. And finally director and artist put there own playful twist on the classic Texas Switch.[imgtoken data:1]"The brief for the video came with a few buzz words - fun, quirky, sunny, bright, bold and joyful - and so that's exactly the sort of video we set out to make," explains Southam.&nbsp;"A handful of film references were shared,&nbsp;one of which is probably glaringly apparent in the final video. But we wanted to up the ante and make it feel super-playful - with it's tongue firmly wedged in its cheek - so that's when the use of doubles and the Texas Switch came into play."The video was filmed in Belgrade, on what Southam describes as "one of the most bonkers backlots I've ever seen." It was also in the middle&nbsp;of the extreme heatwave that has scorched Europe this summer, but "we had an absolute blast making it," he says."I want to call out DoP Murren Tullett’s stellar work and Jay Revell on choreography duty - those boys came correct. But to be fair everyone smashed it.&nbsp;I'm still gutted we didn’t get to use the jet-ski set-up - but I did throw a man off a scissor lift, so its all swings and roundabouts."As for Sam Ryder, can he really be as unfeasibly cheerful as he seems? "Sam is the real deal," asserts Southam. "A genuine and super upbeat chap always with a smile. So we wanted to capture him spreading those good vibes around and highlight his infectious personality."

It's the morning after the night before... and trying to get ready for the day is quite a struggle for this bunch of super-hungover party animals, in Alex Southam's very enjoyable video for Roberto Surace's dance anthem JOYS.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;While an&nbsp;angry girlfriend is pounding the door and unleashing hell on her stupefied boyfriend, his crashed-out guests start to rise from where they fell, and find themselves conflicted - dancing back into their jeans, their&nbsp;bottom halves almost ready to get to the 9 to 5, while&nbsp;their top halves still trapped in last night's party.So we get a different type of drunk dancing... In a ludicrous and offbeat series of events, these guys&nbsp;don't really get anywhere, instead stumbling around the house in awkward unison until they all fall right back into place.Appropriately enough there are lots of joys to be had here&nbsp;- and the track is something&nbsp;of a banger too.

Alex Southam&#39;s welcome return to music videos for Death Cab For Cutie&#39;s excellent Gold Rush is&nbsp;a potent reflection on how the personality of an ordinary neighbourhood is destroyed by popularity.&nbsp;Death Cab&#39;s frontman Ben Gibbard&nbsp;takes a stroll down the street&nbsp;in his neighbourhood, and in doing so takes a journey through the ages. The city block may not change but Gibbard walks past the characters&nbsp;who inhabited the area over several decades. And as he approaches the present-day, the people become more gentrified, more homogeneous.And much more numerous. Gibbard&#39;s progress is finally stopped by a solid mass of people coming the other way - mostly staring into their phones, of course. It&#39;s a&nbsp;powerful&nbsp;metaphor on the way we live now.&nbsp;

With&nbsp;fluorescent lighting throughout, we discover a&nbsp;new world that is still in keeping with Snakehip&rsquo;s previous nighttime promo visuals.Capturing Zayn&rsquo;s characteristically cool performance, the video boasts some&nbsp;warped, distorted post-production trickery and wicked, winding camera movement.&nbsp;Stylish&nbsp;and bold, it&nbsp;focuses on a central tracking move whereby the camera seamlessly tracks forward passing through CCTV camera to&nbsp;apartment to alleyway -&nbsp;cop car to nightclub.&nbsp;Alex enlisted VFX juggernauts Coffee &amp; TV and created the 2D/3D animations himself with Lev Bravo. Expertly shot&nbsp;by Rob Witt, the&nbsp;resulting video&nbsp;sure is a colourful, visually&nbsp;engaging and energetic pop promo with a modern feel.&nbsp;
