Jim Longden directs a lovely one-shot video for French indie band Oracle Sisters - shortlisted at this year's UK Music Video Awards - in which actor Charlie Rowe gives a virtuoso performance. Performances, in fact.The jumping off point for Rowe's tour de force in the promo for Alouette is a meta moment when he gets a call from his agent to be told that the director has chosen someone else, who's 'more wild', to appear in their music video. In his fury and disappointment, he is driven to show exactly what the video director will be missing.So he proceeds to go into character as a an old, quickly changing to become a Mafioso gangster, and then changing again and again, switching clothes, using conveniently placed props to aid his portrayals - and also playing with cardboard cutouts of the band - whilst manically advancing across a West London park. The strength of the idea, and Rowe's performance is underlined by the execution in a single Steadicam shot and the setting. As the pace between the actor's character-switches, and the energy becomes increasingly manic, the camerawork gets more frantic, the comedic value increases. And it ends to great pay-off, as its revealed the young director is, well, very young indeed. Excellent work.

JADE delivers an empassioned live performance of her debut solo hit in an empty theatre in Theo Adams and Sophie Muller's live promo. The video for the slowed-down reinterpretation of hit track Angel Of My Dreams is an ambitious undertaking, shot inside a grand concert hall. Performing as she moves through the auditorium and onto the stage, the visual has a vintage aesthetic, equal parts haunting and ethereal. From there, it builds to a dazzling climax with a coruscating blue projected light - under which JADE gives a stupendous vocal performance. An unexpected yet fitting complement to the original track and video, that showcases JADE's artistry and passion for unique visual concepts.

The video for Wake Up Pass Out is a tour de force of creativity, blending complex techniques with cutting-edge technology in a haunting, hypnotic package, which takes the duo's taste for challenging, fantasy-driven visuals to the next level.Welcome to a new kind of monster, faturing the twin heads of SND's Josh and Archie...Balázs Simon drew inspiration from themes of overconsumption and a lack of self-control. In today's world, many of us are familiar with the experience of not knowing when to stop, often passing out with a phone still in hand. Social media obsession has a way of taking over our lives, turning us into our own monsters. "That's where the idea for the video came from; I love the sardonic honesty in Josh and Archie's music", Simon explains. "Instead of staying in the present and watching the guys perform on stage, we're lured into the arse end of a nightclub to watch their distorted, monstrous versions, which have only one goal: to grab our attention and consume us." From the live-action shoot to 3D scanning the band, motion-capturing their performances, detailed prosthetics, a CGI monster, and photoscanning the streets of London to form the basis of the digital world, it's an ambitious project that is completely captivating from start to end. Definitely not something you'd want to encounter after a heavy night drinking...
