In Soham Kundu's affecting promo for The Shivers' Isola a young man finds comfort in an unexpected encounter with a woman. The young man navigates his initial isolation from the world, and then finds himself on a journey of spiritual discovery. It's a well-paced, poignant concept, with a thoughtful performance from the lead character. Pondering our purpose on Earth and the role of strangers in our journey, the video is an intelligent and intimate character study - which also suits the track really well.

Brandon Hoeg directs a thought-provoking promo for Chicago natives Sincere Engineer. Trapped in an empty house, vocalist Deanna is devoid of all material possessions - aside from her collection of TVs.Drawn into the screens, she finds herself unable to look away or release her mind from the relentless media cycle. She thinks of her band performing without her and her fear of missing out sinks in.A feeling of isolation permeates every frame of this concept, whilst DoP Ryan Zeller's use of space and composition creates an unnerving yet familiar vibe. Especially relatable given the repetitive cycle of lockdown and being torn away from the near future we planned, the video is an understated triumph, and a perfect fit to the angsty soundtrack.

Carly Cussen explores a tumultuous relationship in her video for Becky Hill's Space. The minimalist concept takes place in a series of artificial environments, each designed to distort the idea of distance and space.Open-ended staircases warp into surreal kaleidoscopes, separating the couple and their respective worlds, blocking the path back to normality. The video captures a sense of the universal isolation we are experiencing as an international community, and the fear that the world as we know it has changed forever. Loneliness and heartbreak are common themes in many music videos, but with this project, Cussen has created something emotionally affecting and haunting, which transcends traditional pop visuals. Anthony Neale's art direction also makes a big impact, with brutalist yet functional structures which highlight the drama in the concept.
