The daily grind is given a cinematic makeover in Pedro Takahashi's excellent promo for rising alt-pop artist Haich Ber Na.The video for Sandringham - about his yearning to break free of a life of low paid jobs - was filmed in Haich's hometown of Peterborough and twists the mundane suburban surroundings to feel grand and iconic with inspired cinematography. It's a relatable visual to go with a relatable song, that feels almost dreamlike in its presentation, meditating on life in an apathetic yet strangely alluring way. And a marvellous introduction to an artist capable of turning the struggles of everyday life into great pop music.

Laurence Hills directs a stylish promo in a classic fashion for London-based art-rock outfit DEADLETTER.Hills' monochromatic video for the band's Mere Mortal leans on references of Seventies street photography, and the trademark hard contrast and smoke-filled streets of film noir, in a series of well-crafted vignettes in different London locations, where the band, and particularly frontman Zac Lawrence, offer sharp-suited charisma.Beautifully shot by DoP Sam Finney and designed by Molly Hackney, explores the sense of community and togetherness in the wake of tragedy, the concept celebrates people brought together by the loss of a loved one, grieving and grooving simultaneously.Evocative and nostalgic, the video has a great energy, feeling gritty and raw yet also somehow dreamlike. And this was achieved under the strain of a very tight schedule: shot just one week before its release, producer Masha Thorpe coordinated the entire post process in just four days.It ends with the sixpiece band's image frozen as a picture on a wall, next to a portrait of the late Steve Mackey - Pulp bandmember and director, whose elegant sense of style could have been an inspiration for Hills's video. A poignant ending to an impressive piece of work.

Dan Fromhart directs a ruminative promo for Seattle band No Floor, capturing the group in a dreamlike fashion, opting for textural, abstract shots as opposed to direct-to-camera performance. For the majority of the video for Keep Time, backs are turned, guitars hide faces and the location plays a big part in the frame, adding to the transcendent, almost otherworldly vibe. A powerful, introspective visual that encapsulates the mood of the track."We shot this video on 16mm Kodak film on an unseasonably cold Seattle day," explains Fromhart, who shot the video at the Georgetown Steam Plant museum in Seattle."Our location naturally became its own character in the video," he adds. "The concrete building, built in 1906 housed secret shows in the 80s and 90s, most famously for Steve Albini's band Big Black."

Paris-based director Baptiste Maureau directs a stirring promo for up-and-coming French alt-pop artist Suki. The video for Lucky is a powerful and dark film visualised in a dichotomic way - minimalist and dreamlike, cold and powerful, real and intangible. The stylish, confrontational aesthetic experiments with light, colour and texture to reinforce the intense atmosphere. Anchored by a rousing performance and an overarching sense of danger - elevated by strobe lights and a feverish energy - it's a perfect complement to the track.
