The Jak Payne-directed video from London-based duo Awkward Moments explores the power of music to bring heightened sensuality to the mundane; with states of disturbed pleasure building to a climax as dancer Emma Belabed out of the confines of everyday domestic life. With choreography by Harry Price, with an electrifying performance by Belabed, Payne and Awkward Moments lead us to a place of passionate delirium through this crazed explosive journey."I started by focusing on the lyrics - 'longing, desire, pleasure, smile, flee, velvet, love, always, life, ecstasy, embrace, space’ - and built a sequence of images, each image tied to one of these words," explains choreogapher Harry Price. "I wanted these images to feel both thoughtful and playful, with a sense of spontaneity. I also wanted to explore and capture the strange, often unnoticed things we do when we’re alone - those moments of private release and unconscious movement."Rhythmically, I played with tension and release to capture the blend of yearning and pleasure as a woman breaks free from the confines of everyday life. As the dance progresses, the images evolve, repeat, and loop, creating a ‘glitching’ effect that suggests she’s caught between states."These movements are intercut with moments of pure freedom as [Emma] finds a growing sense of liberation. The use of substances heightens the sensory experience, intensifying both the dance and her journey."
