Irene Marco and Markus Meedt direct a sensual visual experience for the rock-operatic extravagance of new outfit Rora and the Untamed.Fired by a panoply of in-camera effects, the video for Savage White Swan spins from gritty reality - as Rora has her car washed by bandmate Nathen - into an alternative space where she performs within a grip of suited men, faces covered in lace - but also cutting back to the car, the soap on the windscreen evoking the feathers of the eponymous swan."The video explores the uneasy space between reality and expectation, and the way the pursuit of perfection and recognition can ultimately become isolating," explain directors Irene Marco and Markus Meedt."From our first conversations with Rora and Nathen, we were drawn to the duality at the heart of the album: wanting to express yourself but fearing judgement, wanting to belong while also wanting to stand apart. The image of the Savage White Swan felt like the perfect embodiment of that conflict, something beautiful and seductive, but also strange and threatening."Visually, we wanted the film to feel operatic, retro and fantastical, with Kate Bush as a key touchstone. Rather than escaping reality completely, the film filters it through a dreamlike visual language. Blindfolds pass between Rora and Nathen as they enter one another’s worlds, while masked onlookers become an elegant but unsettling embodiment of judgement and scrutiny."All of the film’s visual effects were created in camera using classic techniques including prism lenses, step printing and slow-motion lip sync, giving the film a deliberately tactile, analogue character."

Niall Trask directs a fun-filled promo for indie-dance supergroup Decius, presenting the strange story of a man deeply connected to his car.The video for Walking In The Heat sees lead singer Lias Saoudi (also frontman of Fat White Family) escorted to a car wash in the back of the vehicle - a 1970s Lotus Elan - which he then cleans in a passionate, homoerotic montage. Blending comedy with some great character work, Trask brings out some surprisingly heartwarming moments amongst all the gyrating and hose spilling, reflecting the solace and rebellion Saoudi shares in the bond with his vehicle.It's weird, but in a very good way.

It's a straightforward, yet ingenious idea - perform the song while going through a real car wash. But without the car... Alex Lill has a track record of making spectacular one-shot videos - like the dance sequence performed by cars for The Weeknd's performance at the American Music Awards during the pandemic. And his creativity finds a perfect foil in Tierra Whack and her wildly off-kilter visual universe.Tierra made a video for every one of her 15 one-minute tracks on Whack World, but she probably gives her best performance in a vid in this one. Well, it was certainly the most challenging. And the shot of her finally under the dryer of the car wash is a thing to behold. A wonderful video.
