Muse ft Ellie Goulding 'Hush' by Harry Lindley

Rob Ulitski - 2nd July 2026

Harry Lindley directs a one-shot interstellar adventure for the latest release from the new Muse album The WOW! Signal - also the latest to feature its symbolic ring-shaped Sound Wave.

Lindley's visual for Hush features a lone astronaut 'blasted on a journey across the galaxy', ideated as a one-shot. The astronaut starts in Earth's orbit, travelling through the solar system, past the rings of Saturn (as featured in the Hexagons video) and through the asteroid belt.

Finally we discover the astronaut's destination. He has been drawn, by its immense gravitational pull, into the Sound Wave - where he is delivered into another dimension entirely.

Labelled a visualiser, Lindley's visual stretches that term to the extreme. With the breathtaking scope and ambition of the VFX and CGI work, this sits alongside any music video out today in terms of concept and execution.

"Hush was to be the primary visual asset for the launch of Muse’s latest album,' explains Lindley. "Creative Director Jesse Lee Stout wanted to feature lots of space-infused lore: the golden record, the Voyager plaque, the Sound Ring featured on the cover art - and Muse’s own TV monitor they shot into space to promote the album’s launch.

"Working closely with Dan Massie of Electric Light Studios, we devised a one-shot sequence that would see an astronaut blasted on a journey across the vastnesses of the galaxy.

"Wanderland Films handled the VFX. In one sequence they sourced the original gravitational lensing equations used in Interstellar to render the Black Hole, adapted them from a spherical mapping to instead operate on a flat disk. That allowed the donut shape of the Sound Wave to be composited on top.

"Nods to Gravity, 2001, and Project Hail Mary were blended together via a full CGI approach, with extensive use of NASA's Creative Commons 12K scans of planets and the cosmos."
