Alexander Wolfe 'To Feel Love' by Joe Dixon

Rob Ulitski - 18th Dec 2025

Joe Dixon directs an introspective, docu-style promo for Alexander Wolfe, the second of three videos he's made for the artist.

The video for To Feel Love follows Alex on a night out with his mates, shot in a disorienting yet intimate way. Echoing the camerawork of Joseph Kahn's 2003 video for Dido's White Flag, the video unfolds in a gently buoyant fashion, with the majority of shots captured in Dutch angles or off-kilter composition.

"The album tells the story of a boy becoming a man, searching for meaning in all the wrong places," explains Dixon. "This one beautifully captures the existential angst behind a simple night out with mates. We turned the shoot around in 24 hours, Alex called up a few friends on a Thursday evening and by the Friday night we were shooting it around our hometown of Hastings."

It follows Dixon's visual for Wolfe's The Toughening, where the subject was a boy, Malin Edmondson, on the cusp of manhood, intercut with footage of his younger self, shot four years previously.

"We decided to stick to the same documentary style that we used on the last video," says Dixon. "It’s unusual for me to make films in this way but I really enjoy it. I tried to be part of the group as much as possible and not let the camera become too intrusive.

"None of the people in this are actors - Alex included - which helped the naturalism. Alex did a brilliant job of showing the sadness that lies behind his lyrics. I'm sure everyone can relate to that feeling of loneliness we feel, even when we're with friends having fun."
