Lewis Capaldi 'Survive' by Charlie Sarsfield
Promonews - 18th July 2025
Lewis Capaldi makes his long-awaited return with Survive, and a striking visual - dubbed the In Bloom Offical Video - directed by Charlie Sarsfield.
Set inside a hauntingly grand, flower-filled manor, the video finds Capaldi surrounded by a sea of chrysanthemums as shafts of light cut through dusty windows, illuminating his deeply personal performance. It’s a striking metaphor for rebirth and resilience - themes that resonate not only in the lyrics, but in the emotional weight of Capaldi’s long-awaited re-emergence.
Sarsfield’s direction crafts an intimate and immersive world - from the gentle bloom of flowers beneath Capaldi’s feet to the atmospheric interplay of light and shadow - creating a cinematic space for Capaldi’s voice to take centre stage. At his most open and powerful, Capaldi is joined by a full band, their performance grounded in a single, beautifully composed location that feels both timeless and deeply personal.
In keeping with the integrity of the video, all flowers used on set were donated to local institutions following the shoot, including Royal Berkshire Hospital, The Old Vicarage Residential Care and Dementia Home, and The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSCJT).
“We wanted to create a foundation that matched the beauty of Lewis's big bold comeback track," says Sarsfield. "It was a reflection of everything Lewis has carried with him over the last few years.
“We wanted to build a world where he could tell that story without distraction - just his voice, surrounded by life pushing through the cracks.”
