Sunflower Bean 'There's A Part I Can't Get Back' by Harv Frost
Rob Ulitski - 8th May 2025
Harv Frost directs a thought-provoking promo for New York rock band Sunflower Bean, addressing a song about the complex aftermath of trauma.
The video for There's A Part I Can't Get Back sees the band members in vintage blue-hued vignettes, performing and working together to push a statue across a church, from the darkness back into the light. Its a symbolic action that reflects the powerful sentiments of the song.
A powerful visual, which steadily builds to a beautifully cathartic, healing moment. The triumphant efforts of the group represent their solidarity, supporting one another through disorientation and recovery.
“This song is about the lasting scars of grooming - the parts of yourself that are stolen and the anger you carry because of it,” explains frontwoman Julia Cumming. “I didn’t want to write a song about being healed, I wanted to be angry about needing to heal at all.”
