Kean Kavanagh 'A Cowboy Song' by Kojaque & Robert Bass

Promonews - 7th May 2025

Musician/director Kojaque and Robert Bass continue the story of Pa 'The Hips' Campion - Elvis impersonator and Portlaoise kit man - in the second part of their trilogy of videos for indie-soul singer Kean Kavanagh.

Following the enigmatic one-shot video for The Whistle, in A Cowboy Song we learn more about Campion, played by Peter McGann, riding on the crest of the wave, as he's carried along in the success of the town's Gaelic football team. But the euphoria cannot cover up his personal issues and a heart-rending truth.

Kojaque (who has just joined Pulse) and Bass blend grit, humour and melancholy, to create a video that is a tender portrait of fading fame, obsession, and longing - with McGann's hugely charismatic performance at its heart.
