Snoop reflects upon a life of smoking weed, after he gets some advice from (Doctor) Dr Dre that it would be a good idea if he quit.

From this intriguing set-up, Dave Meyers - who recently won Video of the Year at the inaugural Hollywood Music Video Awards for Sabrina Carpenter's Taste - takes us from the good Doctor's office into Snoop's trip down memory lane. And we do mean trip. 

From child smoker to Mary Jane devotee to inveterate battler against the forces of conservatism (in the form of monstrous members of the Supreme Court) and also bringing crossover country star Jelly Roll along for the ride - plus legendary weed-smoking musicians Tom Petty, Bob Marley and 2Pac - this is a recognisably AI-enhanced animation that takes the integration between a classic craft and new technology to the next level.

Dave Meyers and his team have recruited animation titans Psyop and the AI pioneer Kelzang Revach - who directed the impressive video for Chien Méchant's Étiole Filante - to bring his story to life. And its actually rooted in old school handmade animation styles you might find in the past in videos for more leftfield artists - its even quite Gilliam-esque at times - that it has been overhauled and generally turbo-charged by the technology.

So The Last Dance With Mary Jane video is another breakthrough, where AI is not the story - but doing an excellent job serving the story. And (spoiler) in this story, Snoop is not a quitter.
