Hannah Bon reflects upon human masculinity and its canine equivalent with intensity and dry humour in her video for LA-based indie-rock musician Sabrina Mae Teitelbaum, aka Blondshell.  

From her performance of the song T&A in a motel room, Sabrina radiates a juxtaposition of strength and vulnerability, following on with parallel sequences of man and dog to highlight the hidden softness and overt aggression in both. 

Bon explores empathy, duality, and deep human connection through this video - beautifully shot by DoP Guido Raimondo - with memorable results.

"When I started thinking about how to approach T&A, I knew I wanted it to feel this fleeting moment and not be something strictly narrative - more like a memory Sabrina was having paired with vulnerable portraits of the men," explains Bon, who drew a powerful performance from Teitelbaum to act as a counterweight to the portrait element. 

"Sabrina had a commanding, statuesque presence on camera that completely captivated me," she says. "It was a real pleasure collaborating with her. The atmosphere on set was unexpectedly intimate, with the talent giving their all, and the day coming together so smoothly.

"A huge thanks to our producer, Farah Idrees, for working so hard although she was super sick, and to the incredible 1st AD Cami Contreras, for always keeping me sane and assured. Also, massively thankful for our DP, Guido Raimondo, who is a true talent and a master at subtlety. Cheers to our editor Marcelo Vogelaar, who was always so fun to Zoom edit with and brought fresh eyes to the concept and our lovely colorist Kaitlyn Battistelli, for making it look extra stunning.
