Zebulon Griffin directs a cathartic tale for singer-songwriter Jonah Kagen.Â
The video for Matches follows a carefully-crafted narrative, of a man returning home to confront painful childhood memories.
The lingering, black and white cinematography gives the visual a vintage feel, harking back to traditional storytelling techniques. Paired with inspired performances and a considered edit, it's a lovely visual that reflects the introspective track.Â
"In an age of fast cuts and flashy imagery, we wanted to create an engaging story with intentional and patient camera work that invites the viewer to lean in," says Griffin.
"The resulting music video paints a harrowing journey through childhood trauma and grief."
