Thelma Plum 'The Brown Snake' by Johnny Moubarak
Rob Ulitski - 7th Sept 2022
Johnny Moubarak directs a nostalgic promo for Australian singer-songwriter Thelma Plum.
The video for The Brown Snake was created as a reflection of the artist's time growing up and returning to her home, Meanjin (Brisbane) in the Sunshine State. (Meanjin is the First Nations language of Turrbal, the traditional owners and custodians of Brisbane.)
Paying homage to the Brisbane River aka The Brown Snake, Thelma is shown travelling on a boat, performing with her band, whilst vibrant vignettes of different attractions and glimpses of the city flash up on screen. The carefree vibes are brought to life through relaxed, naturalistic cinematography, with an abundance of shimmery daylight to elevate the dreamy aesthetic.
