MaZz 'I Hate Myself In Love' by Claryn Chong
Rob Ulitski - 21st Feb 2022
Claryn Chong directs an absorbing and colourful visual for new artist MaZz.
The gentle, serene aesthetic is achieved through understated performance setups, featuring the artist in both a studio and outdoor setting.
The use of flowers and nature-inspired art direction ties together the various vignettes, and the minimalist approach perfectly suits the laidback vibes of the track.
"This music video felt very special as it was created by a 90% female crew with all female heads of departments," says Claryn Chong. "MaZz herself is very passionate about women's rights - she is part of a creative collective called Canvas 4 Equality that stands up against inequality - and so it only made sense.
"It was an independent production on a ridiculously low budget, but what a magical outcome."
