Picard Brothers 'Best Of Me' by Jay Christiansen
Promonews - 21st Oct 2021
Jay Christiansen is a virtuoso drone pilot who helmed the remarkable drone-shot bowling alley film Right Up Our Alley that went viral a few months ago - and has now demonstrated his skills once again on the Picard Brothers video for Best Of Me.
The video features a 'teddy bears' house party, set in a big pink house, where we follow the various naughty activities inside and outside the house via Christiansen's speeding drone. And not only is the action captured apparently in a single move, as with the bowling alley film it is the speed and proximity of the camera to the subjects which is truly mind-boggling.
"The beauty of the one shot is always magnified when it's done with a drone," says the Minneapolis-based Christiansen. "The drone gives the viewer the ability to be present. It makes them feel like they are watching the video in real time, that they are flying there too.
"While it looks smooth, a ton of work goes into the flight pattern itself, so huge shout out to my producers (Noah, Bryce, GH) on helping clear some of the hurdles with the logistics. That frees me up to do what I do best, and that's just getting into that flow state and letting that flight rip.
"In terms of technology, the drone and camera really aren't inaccessible by any means, anyone can get it. It's all up to the pilot and their trust of their own abilities, to fly without fear. Working on this video was seeeeeek."
