The Black Skirts 'Two Days' by Waley Wang
Promonews - 19th May 2021
Waley Wang follows up his video for Cool Company's Halos with another bittersweet take on romance, with nods to the oeuvre of Aki Kaurismäki and Jim Jarmusch, for The Black Skirts' Two Days.
It's a coming-of-age dark comedy set in the 90’s about a dorky teenager heartbroken after a remorseless breakup. He escapes by fever dreaming about a carefree relationship with a young TV star, but despite his newfound romance as well as a dazzling makeover, things take a distressing turn.
Reality and our hapless hero's fertile imagination blur, as Wang rounds up his 80s and 90s influences into an evocative piece with deadpan hipster appeal. It's good stuff. And the track is part of the Korean indie rock artist English language EP Good Luck To You, Girl Scout!, his first release in over two years.
