Rebecca Phillips 'Under Me' by Rebecca Phillips
Rebecca Phillips self-directed and produced video for Under Me is a fully-realised vision of a 'proto-futuristic' universe - featuring Phillips as the figure summoned by a woman lying in an otherworldly, near-comatose state.
She has a strange butterfly-shaped mark on her shoulder, an electronic and futuristic growth that begins to flash, activating nightmares about Phillips, who exists within a grid-like structure made from metal and warped mirrors - a metaphor for the woman's disordered mind.
With a sense of drama and a fragmented kinetic energy that reflects the track - the instrumentation in the song is constructed from contorted, reversed and processed samples of the singer-songwriter's vocal - this is a commendably ambitious visual to accompany Rebecca Phillips's musical ideas.
