Hedgehog 'Bat' by Haonan Wang

In this video for Chinese indie band Hedgehog, director Haonan Wang has created a video in which a man escapes from the endless drudgery of a dystopia stuck on repeat, by escaping into his own fantastical world.Â
In his claustrophobic apartment our hero works incessantly on restoring old clockwork toys - to populate a world ultimately controlled by kids.
Perhaps not surprisingly, it was the Haonon Wang's own period of quarantine - stuck in a cheap hotel in Shanghai at the height of the Chinese coronavirus crisis, that inspired the video for Bat.
