Bree Runway, Maliibu Miitch 'Gucci' by Tash Tung
Rob Ulitski - 27th July 2020
Tash Tung directs a sensual and sleek visual for Bree Runway's Gucci - Tung's second video for the dynamic London-based artist, following last year's All Night.
Spanning several fashion editorial-style performance setups, the video plays with the idea of luxury and opulence, and toys with the intersection of fashion with fetishism - and Bree starts out as a diamond in the rough, and then breaking out and becoming something even more extraordinary.
DoP Jack Exton utilises an AR rig and a range of lighting effects to add a dynamism and sparkle to the concept, whilst Samuel Marr's edit perfectly mirrors the pace and flow of the track.
TASH TUNG:
I pitched an idea of ascension to her - where she starts as a diamond in the ground, and ends up as a planetary godlike figure.
"Bree says she comes to me when she wants to feel sexy and I was so happy to level up our last ride in All Night, with this vid for Gucci.
"I really wanted to celebrate Bree’s heritage, skin colour, and her success alongside her obvious sexiness. So I pitched an idea of ascension to her - where she starts as a diamond in the ground and ends up as a planetary godlike figure. She loved it so much she even re-recorded some new lyrics to fit the visuals!
"Every person on this team was so integral in making this despite challenges and (Covid) restrictions, and extra special thanks to my producer, Eleri Evans!!"
