Metronomy 'Whitsand Bay' by Sam Davis & Tom Andrew
Rob Ulitski - 26th Feb 2020
A mini-lightshow illuminates various places across the UK, in Sam Davis and Tom Andrew's video for Metronomy's Whitsand Bay.
The surreal visual follows a disco light - salvaged from an old Italian club in the '80s - filmed in various urban and natural environments across the country, from Tottenham to Hampshire, Suffolk and the Essex coast, to the landscapes of Pembrokeshire - and beyond.
Editor Joe Walton keeps a calm and considered pace throughout, meditating on the environments and the juxtaposition of light and dark. The bursts of light are hypnotic to watch, and bring an almost alien energy to the visual - the light is unexpected and out of place, yet creates a calm, almost relaxing effect as it moves around the country.
